I'm not going to get rude or personal as i totally disagree with that in any way shape or form
I'm really lucky as I've been away for the last week or so and missed this horror unfolding
But let's be honest the warning signs were there from stockport and the ridiculous lack of strategy , settled team and poor signings and history is already repeating it's self
Neil even went on record at the time saying he didn't think he should go back into football management.... not a great CV is it ??
It's not even Sept yet but the clock is ticking and action is needed
Do you really believe this man is capable of managing a team ?
Reeves not starting again today? Our only proven striker replaced by people we know nothing about . If I was him I would be regretting staying . It's an insult to his ability. And then guess what he comes on and scores
The defence a shambles young talent ignored again replaced at a whim with strangers
We are fast becoming a laughing stock and team will expect 3 points from us
People may say we can't afford to let him go .. and as I don't see the books in full I can't comment on finances etc
However I do know that we can't afford to keep him and we certainly can't afford to be relegated again ...
It's ironic .. the pitch and outside interests.. IE the ladies team and community aspects are all looking great
But sadly the bread and butter is floundering and it's sad to see so many normally supportive fans sharing their utter bewilderment at the current predicament.
Cut your losses and get rid now
And by the way getting old mangers back in is never the answer you have to move forward
It's safe to say this is the worst team and set up I have seen in 30 years
You call the shots .
Over to you
Ps if he proves me wrong .. I'll eat my hat .. but sadly I was right with the last Neil as well
-
Just 1 more thing .. we are now using competive league matches to see if new signings are good enough ... I'm amazed
-
I cant see how this clown can keep a straight face and make out he can turn this round....
Nor can I for a second think this sort of joke management can be allowed to carry on by the board for a second longer.
I lok forward to hearing who the next Altrincham manager is and hopefully whoever comes in will be capable of the job (unlike this current joker).
Give him the opportunity to go with honour of his own accord....if not sack him......don't let my football club be a laughing stock for one game longer....we will give a new manager a chance and accept this squad has been put together by a con man who convinced the board somehow he was a football manager.
-
I support Altrincham FC, and that includes backing managers who baffle me, who confuse me and who I struggle to support. However I Have always supported the team and club.
Today, and in the build up to Curzon, I suggested to mates that losing the game may be he best thing for the club as I believe it makes Youngs position untenable. It hurts like hell to say it, but if losing speeds Young out the door then that is a good result.
-
NY simply has to go!! I have never witnessed such a shambles at Moss Lane in my 35 years supporting the club and I won't be watching any more sh*t that served up until this absolute joker is gone,I've got better things to spend my hard earned cash on. Do the decent thing Mr Rowley and sack this f**king idiot before it's too late,he is totally destroying our club and making us a total laughing stock! My wife shouldn't have to put up with this sort of mood on a Saturday night,it's meant to be enjoyment for f**ks sake!
YOUNG OUT NOW!!!!!!!!
Edit..I do hope all these f**king jokers he's signed aren't on contracts otherwise any new manager will have to perform a miracle!
-
I heard today that Frank Sinclair applied for the job in the summer...
-
I thought Les Rigby was bad, this bloke is another league ahead, get rid and start again. I reckon we are two or three seasons back now. We need a new manager pronto plus someone at the helm who understands football.
-
Please put us out of our agony, relieve the manager of his duties.
-
I could actually take relegation, what I can't take is the loss of the football club that I have supported all my life.
-
Wayno, nail hit firmly on the head! Agree with every word.
To the board: You didn't listen to popular consensus on several occasions last season and look what happened. We aren't daft here. We all had hope for Young but he clearly doesn't learn from past mistakes. This will only end in his sacking so just do it now and give us a chance of having a stable 2nd half of the season to build on for next season. Right now we'll be visiting Ossett in the not too distant future and places like that. The club will collapse and not just the team.
Please please please act now!
-
I think when one of our long standing and most fair minded supporters posts what Wayne has above it speaks volumes. Let's draw a line under this whole sorry affair now while there is still time to turn our season around.
This is a dark day for our club.
-
Nice bloke but get rid now defo now

Nice bloke but get rid now defo now
Is he? I wonder. Normally, with a manager who's not up to the job, fans will say 'his heart's in the right place but...' or 'I can see what he's trying to do but...'. I don't feel that with this guy. So many of his decisions defy logic that you have to question his motives. Frankly, I think the whole thing stinks.
Put it this way, is he a Tolson or is he a Griffith? Either way, Young out. Now.
The board must also take their share of responsibility for all this. They have made two absolutely catastrophic managerial decisions in a row and need to show humility and hold their hands up, at least for the second one.
What a truly terrible moment this is for our football club.
-
I have no faith in the board to do the right thing. We need Young to walk, which he will before the Stockport game.
-
I'm expecting the news that he goes tonight it can't continue

Very well said.

I don't think he's going anywhere soon. From the Chairman's column of today's Robins Review:
So for those expecting to see our manager to exit just as swiftly - think again. Neil was appointed by the Board to manage our club and that's exactly what he'll be allowed to do.
-
If you were on the outside looking in you may feel that sacking a manager 6 games in with a new playing squad would be premature, but as we all know the situation is much much graver than that. There is so much that Young has got wrong and continues to get wrong, his approach to management is at best totally bizarre and at worst completely reckless. The board need to step in immediately and put an end to this.
-
If the Chairman supports Neil then the fans will turn on him, this not the first error of judgement he's made
-
The fans don't have a say anymore .good luck with your plan then Rowley
-
Kiddy must be on the piss tonight. They barely need to turn up Monday
-

ha ha, they can turn up sleep walking and at least get a 5 nil win
-
even setting aside the complete shambles and even if he turns it round and we get promoted (I know - bear with me...) we'd have to sack him at the end of the season anyway. This management style simply cannot function in a league with transfer windows. What is the point of trying to get promoted with manager you know would have to go?

But that was before he signed a player not good enough to play 30 minutes and left Reeves on the bench for two newbies.
He has dismantled a half decent first XI in order to have wage budget free to bring in new players every week on the off chance they are any good. Not only has he wrecked the team but he has also demolished the culture of this this club that made it what it was. I can forgive the team bit but to treat players the way he does is not what this club is about. Got to go and go fast. Put Mr Heslop in charge for Monday while we find someone else
-
But this season he HAS ALREADY selected players who haven't completed 30 minutes (Menagh et al) AND he has overlooked Reeves for newbies (remember Metz at Halifax).
He'll still be the manager for the Kiddy defeat and then he'll walk before having to face 1500 Stockport fans.
-
Well, regarding the player he hooked after 17 minutes today.......according to Mr Young on the website he has previously trained 3 times with us and shown up "really well".
Nuff said, the whole situation beggars belief
-
One of the subs told a fan the Portuguese lad was taken off because he was struggling to communicate in English - I really hope he was joking.
-
It was a great goal by reeves today hope he finds a decent club soon
-
I've just turned to Championship manager to console myself by watching virtual versions of Deasey, Havern, Leather et al lose in the Conf National. Hint and tip on screen while it loads:
"Lots of new signings in a short period of time can upset the balance and rhythm of your team" - even the bloody laptop is taking the piss now.......
-

Apparently couldn't understand what Jake was telling him to do!
-
Jake is from Stoke duck where everyone travels by buz!
-
I think one of the worst things for me today was the apathy in the second half as we got pumped at home by a side who average about 300 at home. That and the thought that the last two August BH Saturdays we've beaten Bristol Rovers and Tranmere Rovers. The Board must act now if all our good work as a community club in the last few years is to be undone and the attendances plummet.
NY is woefully out of his depth and he has to go now. That's all that needs to be said. Today was an embarrassment to everyone who follows our great club.
-
Somehow I don't expect any of what happened today will make a jot of difference.

If Rowley is openly supporting NY in the match program then he is just as bad and he needs to go too. Stop driving our club into the ground.

In fairness, that was before a 4-2 drubbing.
His comments were actually correct in the program.
He directed the comments toward Eastleigh. Appointing a biss, giving him a war chest then no time. Their results are a lot better than ours have been

I was gutted when we were relegated last year, for obvious reasons, but also because it meant I could barely get to any games in the Conf North. Having gone to the Fylde game whilst visiting home a couple of weeks ago, and trying to keep up with the comings and goings under Young so far, I have to agree that the team feels completely disconnected to the fans and the club. Last year I couldn't do anything between 3-5 on a Saturday, other than go to the game or listen on RR.
Yesterday I just turned my phone off and went to the baths for two hours, and turned my phone back on in the evening to a series of texts from a mate. First he asked who on earth half the players in the line up were, then why Reeves was on the bench, and finished by asking what was going on at the club at the moment. Probably the worst thing about it is I didn't even care - like others have said, I almost wanted us to lose yesterday if it means accelerating the departure of Young. I would love the board to act quickly and decisively, but suspect otherwise.
-
Amazed to see the board sitting on their hands again - another mess, the board need to go as quickly as the management. We the supporters are being treated as idiots now, Rowleys piece in the programe is totally disrespectful to the supporters
Young should have been dismissed by 5pm yesterday, I shall not be going again until he has gone. I urge others to not go as well, thats the only way this board will take notice
I urge board to step aside as well, your destroying the club. Give us a fighting chance with new ownership, its not even about money anymore - just direction. We're no longer a football club but a community centre which does a bit of football on the side
Heartbreaking

Don't normally agree with some of the things you say but these are two excellent points.
-
I decided to stay and have a drink in our community hall to make my thoughts known to the board members whi are apparantly 'oh so approachable'.
The response of one particular board member was indignant, belittling, and unacceptable to say the least. And before you grab a pitch fork it wasnt not Mr Rowley.
I wasnt rude, loud or even critical. I wanted a few questions answered.
-
I think the sad thing is the board are only interested in the supporters when they want us to put our hands in our pockets.
-
Jack, I don't know you mate, but you've always seemed a perfectly reasonable guy to me in the posts you've made on this forum. If you're saying a board member's comments were unacceptable, then I am worried.
-
I don't really know many of the board when I have spoken to Graham in the past he has always seemed very approachable very worrying this

When a decision you've made is publicly going so badly wrong the "bunker mentality" can kick in. Taking a mental step back from the situation is not easy.

Thanks Neil for doing the right thing. He can crack on with his life and we can get on with building a team capable of challenging this season. Great news.
