Sounds like a good little run out for the lads. I am looking forward to reading the report on the triallists this evening.

4 weeks til the big kick off! (Is it me or is pre-season getting shorter every year?)  :)

I believe that was Stevie Connors, who scored the 4th. He looked quite similar in stature to Chris Senior. I thought Paul McManus, who came on part way through the 2nd period, and scored twice looked a handful. Having said all of this, Abbey Hey didn't put up much of a fight, and but for poor defending in the 2nd half wouldn't even have got on the scoresheet.

I am intrigued by Stevie Connors.

He looked like bloke that had come for a kickabout and was new to the area, but was actually very skillful and quick.

Was it the Stevie Connors that used to play for Witton a couple of seasons ago? If it was he had a habit of picking up a lot of yellow cards during the season.

The ex-Witton Steve Connors was recently plying his trade with Bradford Park Avenue and then he signed for Fleetwood Town in Conference North. As they are currently in Scotland on pre-season I expect that it is either another player or he has been released from Fleetwood.

I too was impressed with the little number 6, very attack minded and direct with quick feet, could see him playing well in 'the hole'.

It's definitely not the Steve Connors from Fleetwood, as he has blonde hair and about 6 feet tall, whereas the lad playing yesterday had dark brown hair and was quite small. I don't know where he's come from.

So know we now...

One of the second half subs at Abbey Hey was Steve Connor (right), who played up front, though he can also play on the wing. In August 2005, Steve playing for Everton Reserves in the FA Premier Academy League. In the same Everton Reserves' side was Alty's Shaun Densmore. Born on the Wirral on January 27, 1989, Steve had a loan spell from the Toffees at Partick Thistle from August 2007 but his stay there was affected by injury. His contract at Goodison Park was terminated in May 2008 and in 2009 he was at TNS in Wales, whom he left at the end of last season. The Everton website has more on Steve.

And an apology from me..he looks a lot older than he is!
