Title: Conf North & Playoffs
Post by: blackpoolalty on April 25, 2015, 05:15:53 PM
So, we do have to go to Barrow. Albeit in a higher league. Can see them doing well next year. AFC Fylde seem to concede badly as well as score, if Guiseley are on the ball can see them dicking them. I also think Boston will overcome Chorley but for geographical reasons Barrow, Chorley/Fylde would do me

Pleased Barrow got up, proper old fixtures V Barrow. Would prefer Boston not to get promoted, never liked them or the town.

I fancy Guiseley to do Fylde, then blow it at Chorley. Long time since I visited Victory Park (I reckon 48 years maybe ?).

Chorley has great memories of good friends being reduced to tears by air horns :-)

Best memory of Chorley has to be Hugh being pushed around the ground in a shopping trolley during a late 90s Unibond game.

Who would we like to see go up? BR and Grimsby bring in good gates. But the message if FGR or Eastleigh go up?
I think BR will go up as they are streets ahead of the others. I think I would prefer Grimsby to go up from a benefit to Alty point of view.

I also think we will get Tramline Rovers on a Tuesday night as Bank Holiday weekends will be reserved for the privilege of Wrexham and Chester.

We'd better hope Boston don't come up.....because if they do, the Xmas fixtures could send us to Barrow.

From a purely selfish financial perspective pertaining to the respective away followings of those four play-off contenders, Eastleigh achieving promotion would be the best outcome for us.

For those of us curmudgeons who insist on bearing long-standing grudges, Grimsby Town's key role in the infamous Football League Re-election farce of June 1980 means that I hope that they remain in this division.

Agree with the practical proposition about Eastleigh being promoted, and that would make them even more appealing to top top players (if such a thing were possible). Also, 35 years isn't a long time to hold a grudge.

Bristol Rovers were far better over the two games. FGR could play till next week and not score.

Fancy Rovers to go up still.

Grimsby two up today so it will be the final the league and BT wanted.

I think Rovers (but would prefer Grimsby) will win and I am looking forward to a good day out at Wembley for the play-off final.

What a shame Crawley got relegated and will soon be playing us again before long or passing us on their way down/out of existence.

Ross Joyce has improved a lot as a referee this season and probably deserves this appointment. He will probably be a Football League Referee next season.
