Today's Alty trivia question
« on: February 03, 2009, 10:03:58 PM »

When was the last time Alty completed a league double over Northwich?

(I don't know the answer by the way!)

i made that up

if you select the teams, and head to head history

it appears to be the 1985-86 season

22.04.1986     Altrincham     2-1     Northwich Victoria
30.09.1985    Northwich Victoria    1-2    Altrincham

over to cult for an indepth analysis on all the scorers, times and beards.

Surprisingly (as I think that most of us thought that it was back in the 1960s!), I believe that the last time that Alty achieved a league double over Vics was during the 1987/88 GM Vauxhall Conference season.

25th August 1987
Altrincham...2 (Eddie Bishop 2)
Northwich...0

12th October 1987
Northwich...1
Altrincham...2 (Ossie Smith & Ronnie Ellis)

You can't ask this kind of question when I am asleep!  It's not fair!  Stamps foot, flounces off.

Ans as for the sixties, I know we didn't so it in 67-68, 68-69 or 69-70!

What on earth were we doing playing Vics in August and October? Are the Christmas/New Year derby fixtures a relatively new thing?
