Moved from 25th to 27th just two days before Aldershot away. Farcical blazer brigade.
-
Congleton winning 2-0

Us and Congleton

So are we thinking it'll be at Nantwich, Crewe or M*cc?

I hear a rumour it may be at Moss Lane, but basically, we know it's next week but not sure where or when, unless RG is definite.
I assume the blazers have to inspect the catering arrangements first....
-
So its Alty v Congy.
They will be no pushover. They are 9th tier (NWCL Prem) but are having a good season particularly in knock-out competitions. In addition to the CSC final they have the Macron Cup Final to look forward to against Bacup Borough on 8th May at Victory Park, Chorley. They lie 8th in their league with 6 games to play. They also had a great run in the FA Vase that somewhat resembled our FA Trophy efforts.
They drew a home tie against Newport Pagnell in the Semi-Final. The scores were level at full time, but alas, Congleton lost 3-2 on penalties before a sell out crowd at the Cleric Stadium. Sound familiar?
I think I might even feel bad if when we beat them.
-
Moss Lane would be fantastic wouldn't it?
Potentially a great end to the season if we could claim a trophy 🏆 in a final home game.
Much as I'd like it to happen, it seems too good to be true.
PS. The Blazers could entertain themselves in the family stand whilst we all get on with (hopefully) enjoying the match!

Thanks. That date at least does seem definite, although I wonder why it's on the Thursday as Congleton don't seem to have any games between Saturday 22nd and the Macron League Cup final on May 8th .

Arsed

The Bears last win was a mere 85 years ago , Congleton might be a ghost town that night ! If they do get the win no doubt their fans will join in a massive Conga on the pitch 🤔
-
The date change is not welcome here. The 25th suited me very nicely, the 27th is hopeless. Hey ho, more messing about with dates and times.
-
Latest rumours suggest that the venue will be the J Davidson Stadium on Thursday, 27th April.
All-ticket....?

Let's hope the stewarding is up to scratch and that the pop side is not conceded to the away hordes!
Just hope Season Ticket holders will get first crack at tickets 🎟
Although, actually, I'd prefer to pay on the gate.
PS. Irony meter at maximum! 😉

Final now confirmed at ML next Thurs: https://altrinchamfc.com/blogs/news/cheshire-senior-cup-final-altrincham-v-congleton-town

Brilliant, means the girls can go too, and Saturday is not our final home game of the season.
-
Fair play. We are safe, Aldershot basically safe so can go at this full pelt without affecting the league. Nice work to get it on at our ground too. Crowd will be interesting with it being midweek & all pay. Somewhere around 1500 would be my guess.
-
Believe its being played at the J. Davidson
-
Let's hope the crowd is a big one for the chance of some silverware and the last home game of the season. A great chance to thank the team for their efforts this year.
-
Don't f**k it up Nigel and Gary. You've ruined enough games this past 6 weeks.
-
anyone on the alty fc media team able to come with an explanation yet as to why the change of date?
-
Change of venue to our home ground is unfair.
-
Will this be the first time Altrincham have played in a cup final (ie excluding play-offs) at ML? I always thought the CSC was supposed to be played at a neutral venue. I repeat, the lack of accountability from the "blazers" (which caused so much trouble in the 1980s) needs to end.
-
Witton final in 1967 was two legged. 0-1 away then 3-1 at ML. (7000 crowd. I was there) 😉
-
Change of venue to our home ground is unfair.
I very much doubt we pushed for it more none of the Senior EFL sides in the County (or usual recent suspects Nantwich) were prepared to host it so we stepped in. A competition which is firmly last on our list of priorities for the season is not one we are going to get involved in backdoor shenanigans for.

Blimey, no!

I heard it was going to be at Crewe but they didn’t want it there

Yes. I hadn’t heard mention of Moss Lane once until it was officially announced a few days ago. On Crewe & re the Thursday night point note Crewe have a league game this Tuesday night at Grimsby. I suspect the final was moved to a Thursday with Crewe anticipating they’d beat Congleton but wanting some of their reserves involved in their league game & also needing some of their officials at Gresty Road for a possible final. Hence them saying they’d host it but on condition it was a Thursday. Once Crewe backed out though I’ve no idea why it couldn’t be shifted to a Tuesday. I could be totally barking up the wrong tree of course, but my understanding was it was always going to be at Crewe & so suspect we’ve stepped in at the last minute.

That all fits in what I have heard. The Thursday scheduling was to fit in with Crewe, but, in addition, once they were knocked out and dropped out from hosting the final, the Cheshire FA couldn't find any match officials to take charge of the game on the Tuesday or Wednesday, and couldn't change the date.
That does sound a bit dubious, I know, but it does seem to fit in with events.
-
I am glad we have a home tie on a Thursday. The girls have cubs and Scouts and Guides on Tuesday night, because we are at home so it is do-able and they can now experience their first ever cup final, no matter what level. I just hope that despite it being a less major trophy, we still have plenty of support.
-
I really hope we get a big gate for this one. We'll be there to see us go for a welcome piece of silverware and give the boys as much support as we can. At £6 for 'Seniors' like us it's a bargain!
Hope we go for it and put out a strong team.
-
The only big gates in recent years have been for County last season, and for Crewe's derby with Nantwich. I hope I'm wrong, but I suspect that talk of 1,500 plus may be a little optimistic.

I was thinking that too, but then, the Liverpool Senior Cup final between Marine and Runcorn Linnets had an attendance of 2561 at Widnes a few days ago. The Manchester Premier Cup final between Radcliffe and Wythenshawe Town had 1108 at FC United, which is more than the combined average support of both clubs, so there does seem to be some interest in county cups nowadays, at least in their final stages.

Think it's £12 adults and £6 concessions (ie us lot!)
-
Just checked and I think you're right, DT. Sorry, thought it was too good to be true! 🤯

Its' £12 Adults and concessions and £6 under 18s.
whether it is a decent crowd largely depends on how many alty fans turn up for this one. There were 2100 plus Alty fans at the ground last Saturday, so, with Congleton having sold well over 300 tickets now, we could easily have over 1500 there on Thursday.
