My fear is that should we sell him to Stockport they wont pay us - like when we sold Ellender to Scarborough.
that is a very real fear. There is no point losing a quality player on the back of promises to pay being received.
I have a suggestion off the top of my head that may help in situations like this,
Club A promises to buy a player from Club B for 5 instalments of £10k each.
A central Football Transfer Fund pays Club B the £50k up front (less a % for admin) immediately.
Club A then makes 5 payments to the Football Transfer Fund.
The Football Transfer Fund is run entirely by the Football League.
The obvious advantage to me is that clubs will get paid, and the Football League will see immediately when a club fails to meet their commitments to the Fund. Steps can then be taken to find out what's going wrong EARLIER rather than leave the situation to deteriorate further.
I see issues about the the initial funding.
