James Smith returning to Stockport?
« on: January 26, 2011, 09:59:32 AM »

In todays MEN it has an article on Stockport having their transfer embargo lifted and also adds that they are trying to re sign James Smith from us. I presume he's on a contract so it will be a no go but a bit worrying all the same.

Do they have any cash? Would we accept a five figure offer? Or is he in the irreplacable bracket?

I wouldn't mind betting we get backed into a corner and have to accept whatever they offer us.

If we stopped him going back in the league imagine how miserable he would be then!

We cerainly shouldn't be bullied on that basis but having said that if he went back into the league it would only be for three months!

Don't know if Smith would want a return to County,as rumour has it that they didn't
part on the best of terms when he was allowed to leave.

I'd have thought he'd stick it out untill the end of the season then join Fleetwood like he wanted to at the end of last season.

Quite why anyone would join County at this moment is beyond me.

Its not online yet but the Stockport forum reckons that it says in the Stockport Express that Smith has been training with County the last few days?

Can find that it's says he's been training with them, just linking him with a move (plus several others)

Smith didn't play with his customery wrist bandage last night, so I guess it must be true.

Don't want to sound doom and gloom but if we lose smith I really can't see us staying up, he is without question the best player in our squad. He's a class above.
