GOAL 'CELEBRATION' MUSIC
« on: October 30, 2010, 07:10:29 PM »

I must admit that I am not a fan of goal celebration music, but I have just got back from Curzon Ashton vs FC Halifax Town in the FA Trophy 2nd Round Qualifying where they have an interesting take on post goal music when a goal is scored by the opposition.

When Halifax equalised they played an excerpt from Lily Allens' song "Its Not Fair", specifically the courus bit that goes ...... "It's not fair and I think you're really mean, I think you're really mean"

It was quite amusing , has anyone ever heard anything like this before?

I was scarred for ife by MArtin Filson, Stalybridge Celtic and "boom boom boom, let me hear you say waaayooo"

One of the worst things ever, never been funny.

I absolutely hate music played after a goal is scored, especially after the Mansfield game.

Sorry but it smacks of rubbing the away team's nose in it - a ha ha ha, hee hee hee type of thing.

I sincerely hope and pray Alty never go down that road!! Think the worst I ever heard was the Spurs from a few years back, a crashing crescendo of manic classical type banal pap!! Sounded like on old fart like me on a treadmill that kept going faster and faster, which I could'nt stop.

There, I've got it off my chest now.

Wouldn't want it at Alty

Sounds horrendous at Fleetwood - captain pugwash or some rubbish like that

Sounds great at Blackpool, 16,000 singing glad all over and the grounds rocking

Hi Ho Silver Lining away at Rushden was also one of the worst things i've ever heard. Smacks of not enough noise being generated by the fans of the scoring team and the necessity of something to cover it up if you ask me

I think firstly at this level any songs or drums just don't work. Aldershot away is the only non league game I've been to where the drums were convincing.

More to the point I think it leads to banality and brainlessness in the support. The perfect example of why not to have music was Damien Reeves goal against Rushden. A quick burst of Reevesy obviously but we couldn't get that done quick enough in order to start our Nicky Clee chant showing that we appreiciated and knew who it was who had been all important in that goal. I think Nicky appreciated that.

Better that Nicky Clee hears and knows that than a bunch of f**kwits just bobbing around to Tom Hark or some other such triviality.

More invasive, brash and totally without merit American culture (now there's two words that should never appear together) that we could well do without.
