From Confguide. Probably bollocks and probably nicked off here!

League Two side Stockport have emerged as hot favourites to land the signature of Nationwide Conference side Altrincham's starlet Lewis Chalmers.

The 21-year-old has been in impressive form this season, scoring five goals in 36 league games.

League One duo of Northampton Town and Brentford have also expressed their interest in the youngster but Stockport look to have won the race to his signature.

The League Two promotion hopefuls have confirmed that Chalmers is a possible summer signing.

Stockport manager Jim Gannon told skysports.com: "He is one of a number of players we are looking at and we will be making further attempts to recruit young players in the summer, if we feel they are right for the club, both now and in the future."

Chalmers is not tied down to a contract at Altrincham and could leave the club after handing in his seven days' notice.

Again reading the other thread would help.  He won't sign one because it would decrease his chance of a move to a league club (as we would then be able to demand a transfer fee), quite understandable but it would be a tough blow to lose him for the pittance we'd get at a tribunal.

according to alty tunnel steward and his contacts the stockport manager doesnt even know lewis's name. so if this is correct about jim gannon then alty tunnel steward i think your contact is wrong.

Good point.

It would be a travesty if he went for nothing, if he was on a contract however...

jim gannon will have had a few names banded @ him including lewis and the quote will have been misconstrued to look like its all aimed @ lewis, despite oli and other being mentioned probably
