Thats your opinion and mine is that he is still good enough for a squad place. haven't really seen him play upfront for a while so can't comment on if he's good enough in that position.

Thornley was probably most effective last season when deployed out on the left wing.

He played as a central striker at Tamworth (after Joe O'Neill's injury) and at home to Aldershot but the old magic just seemed to have deserted him in my eyes.

I think that the knee problems he suffered deprived him of the crucial extra yard of pace that he possessed during his early years with Alty.

Got doubts myself about Rod at this level for a another season. Cash allowing we should keep him on though as he is, in my opinion, better than a "squad player".

By squad I meant in the matchday team , whether starting or as a sub .. would like to see him given a chance in the friendlies though as a striker.

Do people think we have enough cover for the centre of defense?

Will Tinson play 46 games this season, I doubt Karl will get through without some sort of suspension given his record last year - we only need a suspension to clash with an injury to Rose or Tinson and who do we play there?

Otherwise a Left Back plus a fit Potts should do us to start with, add in a loan at some point (Bushell and Senior have been cracking loan signings) and we seem to be looking like a decent outfit

Warren Peyton is a wonderful left back. I'm sure if he's asked to play their again, he won't let us down.

We need a specialist left full back!

I want to see Peyton on the left side of midfield, pushing forward and getting some crosses in.

Chris Lane can play at right back and centre back so i'm sure he'll be used in the centre if need be.

Against aldershot in the last game of the season peyton was always making runs down the left side but i think people were used 2 him being played at left abck and wondering wot he was doing so far up. whenever he got the ball he was a threat and played even better in the second half. Can't fault the guy. Quality.

probably our strongest team would be as follows:

coburn

lane
tinson
munroe(rose covering suspensions)
peyton(as it is but i would put him in left midfield if we signed a specialist left back)

potts
lawton
sedgemore
rod (would drop to bench with a left back)

o neill
little

acton
val (would get a game most matches although on the bench)
macfadden
gary scott(if fit he can do a good god)
aspinall(same as scotty)
rose

but we do need more midfield cover

For me, rods best game was against northwich at home. was brilliant down the left wing and then further up.
