You can Chris. Just take a minute to yourself at 3.00 pm tomorrow. You don't need to be there fella.

What is the silence for ?
Centenary of 23000 troops leaving Aldershot at the outbreak of the 1st world war (It was predominantly an army town then)

Aldershot has been a garrison town for generations. It use to  be home to the Para's but they moved out around the late 90s after a defence review.

Colchester and Catterick are now the larger garrison towns

Hence the football club holding the minute silence

I was posted to Aldershot in January 1960 to start my national service. There for 3 months basic training next to the Para's barracks. De-mobbed January 1962
