I noticed that Damian's recent 150th goal went slightly under the radar amidst us qualifying for the FA Cup 1st Round and all that. That's some haul, so I pose the question, has he done enough to be considered an Altrincham legend?
I'd say so. Definitely on par with the status of Colin Little now.
-
Certainly is
-
I think this is down to the individual. To me he is. His goals got is up and then kept us up. Legend.
Col Little tho was in a different class and came to us at the end of his career, a point we see so many just turn up for the money and give nothing to the cause. He was so dedicated it was amazing. He also dragged the team along with him, a leader and a goal scorer. Defo THE legend in my lifetime as an Alty fan.
Well done Reevesy tho on 150, what an incredible achievement and what a wonder no league club never took a chance??? Still, our gain!

Great post
Without a doubt not in question right up there with little and Coburn to name 2

He is not a legend in my eyes. Only because I don't believe you can be legend until you leave the club/retire.
Suffice to say he will be a legend and the club would not be where it is now without him.
He does need to get his scoring boots on though, otherwise we might end up back in the Conference North.

Do you mean there is any doubt?
-
There is less chance of the Pope being Catholic than of Reevesy not being a legend.
-
Glad to hear that so many see Reeves as a legend, but we have four 'no' votes. Would like to hear the reasoning behind those.
-
I voted no but I think I have explained why, purely timing. He will be a legend no doubt about it but not until he finishes his alty career be that tomorrow, or in 5 years.
-
No
A bright spark in lean years though most certainly
But for legends look back to the 70's and 80's
-
The second highest scorer os ALL TIME
Yes Of course he is
-
yes.
I think the reason he stayed was that he was earning more with his part time contract and being self employed, than he was being offered by league clubs.
also, i suspect he just loves alty and doesnt want to play for anyone else.

i think if you score that amount goals even in lean times you are considered a legend of the club as is coburn who has also played in fairly average Alty teams

That is probably the most uplifting post i have seen from you Jamie, maybe your grumpiness is finally deserting you???

What I've always found reassuring is that his missus posts lots of Alty stuff on her Twitter (the club retweets it, I don't stalk!) and their little one has all the shirts, they come to all the games etc
Always helps when the whole family is sold in - he could very easily get a more local gig.
-
Good player ile judge him at the end of his stint at alty to say he's a legend more to come yet
Decent guy also
-
I find Damian a real enigma (not the variations type before the puns start flying)
His close control isn't the best, he rarely dribbles past defenders, he isn't very effective in the air and yet......................
You just can't argue with his goal scoring record.
And as someone else has pointed out it's not as if he is playing in a team that creates loads of goal scoring opportunities every game.
I don't know how many points he has won us over the years but I doubt whether we would be playing in the Conference without Damian and his goals.
Keep going Damian a hat trick on Saturday will remove any doubt as to whether you are a legend or not.
-
He has scored a hell of a lot of headers for a Alty but I agree with a lot you have said
-
Of course he is a legend, and he'll score on Saturday

He has stayed with us for years, scored loads of goals and still put a shift in last Saturday. I can't believe there are still people who doubt whether he's a legend.
