At the risk of banging on about Tom and Matt
« on: July 18, 2010, 10:21:58 AM »

I don't want to bore everyone but something that GH said about the situation hit me last night.

He said in an interview:

"It is a delicate situation with Tom and Matt, but I want to give them every chance to come back into the team, because they are good players."

Why is it a delicate situation? Is there a chance they could be on their way when fit enough?

I havent seen that interview but I would presume he meant that its catch 22.

He needs to sign people to replace them until they are back fit again but if he does what happens to them (or the people we signed) when they are?

On the other hand we can't start the season light and then play catchup as we could be well behind by the time they are ready to come back.

I think we need a creative or attacking central midfielder anyway , lawton and danylyk are more holding midfielders.

I sincerely hope not - Tom is the first midfielder of his type that we've had in years, our ball retention improved immeasurably when he was in the team and he was very badly missed when he got injured

Tom Kearney is about 90% certain to be coaching in the USA.

When GH said it was a delicate situation he probably meant that he will have to go at least 5 months of the season without either of them and at the same time he has to cover there positions..

I suppose money is the determing factor with this problem..

The team is now entering a very interesting period with Dale coming back, new players bedding in and in the longer term the return of Matty and Tom..

If as posted on here. Tom is indeed going to the USA to coach then we really ought to forget about him as a player .. Matty on the other hand will hopefully be back by the end of the year...

I also think that we need another creative midfielder wether Tom stays or not
Just my thoughts ....
