Altrincham FC First Team / Website on iPad and iPhone
« on: August 10, 2014, 04:57:08 PM »
Is anyone else having difficulty getting on to the "full website"? I can now only get the test site for smart phones. Not what I want on my iPad at all.

Altrincham FC First Team / More clubs than Tiger Woods

So there I was today having a birthday nosh with my son in Nando's in Bury, haunt of footballers past and present, when who should walk in but Lucas Neill. Surely not looking to sign for that rich club at Gigg Lane?

Perhaps it's the team he wants to retire with, helping them to the league title? Heard that one....

Altrincham FC First Team / Colwyn Bay shame
« on: November 18, 2013, 11:46:12 AM »
May I make more of a point which was mentioned in an earlier thread but which has not been expanded upon?

Who went to the aid of the ref when he collapsed in a heap? Not instantly, but after a suitable time had elapsed to allow the host club to provide assistance. It was the Alty physio.

Call me old fashioned but shouldn't the visiting team, its officials and the FA officials all be hosted and offered hospitality by the home club? The officials in particular are reliant upon the home club to provide refreshments, ablutions and other normal facilities. This should extend particularly to offering assistance in the event of injury on the field.

In all my years of watching football, never have I witnessed such appalling lack of concern and good manners from a football club - you expect it from Sinclair, but for the directors of Colwyn Bay to permit the ref to ignominiously sit in the middle of the pitch, clearly in agony, until the Alty bench reacted and came to his aid, is disgraceful.

Shame on you Colwyn Bay, for this act alone.

Altrincham FC First Team / Guiseley have secret weapon - trapezoid
« on: April 10, 2013, 11:39:31 AM »
OK, so I've nothing to do.........but I just Google-mapped Guiseley's ground in preparation for the ar*e-kicking on Thursday night. And the overhead photo of their ground reveals that it's not square.

Does this mean Guiseley have been winning matches by making substitutions at half time? Do they swap a three legged winger for a peg-leg when they change ends? We need to sign some fast........ ;)

OK, so maybe it's just the fencing that's skew-whiff. Back to work.
