See club website. Tim Deasy
-
Let's hope he can resist jumping the hoardings at the chequers end and grappling for the football with supporters this time round 😛
-
Average keeper IMO but I wouldn't consider him a long term successor to Stu. Let's hope he proves me wrong.
-
CV doesn't look great - 30 year old from lower down the pyramid looks like another one season bench warmer for Stu still first choice - a little disappointing. Is he any better than Parton who was at least inexperienced enough to improve through sharing the job with Stu?
-
How underwhelming. 30 yo with his best days well behind him. Conference Premier experience, but spent the past 4 years in the North or Evostik regional divisions. Makes no sense to me, unless he is very cheap.
-
As I've said before, unless we go for someone to compete for the no.1 jersey with Stuart, we'll get nothing better than what we have had. We seem once again to have chosen a definite 'second keeper' rather than a potential first choice. Stuart will not go on for ever & this may well have been the time to look for a real alternative.
-
Welcome to Alty, Tim and good luck!
-
This signing depresses me
-
IMO, an excellent signing, plenty Conference experience. 28 clean sheets in 59 games last season, no mean achievement. Certainly signed to compete for first team berth. Good luck Tim!!
-
Christ above , give it a break , the lad just signed on and he being slaughtered already , if he reads this take no notice and I wish him good luck .
-
Let's hope he can impress upon his new colleagues just what a high point of his career the Wembley final with Barrow was.....we could use some cup motivation.
-
Welcome Tim and good luck.
Let's hope some of his FA Cup experience rubs off on us:

Welcome to Alty. Clean sheets please.
-
Deasy from what iv seen is a decent enough keeper and streets ahead of parton but is he as good as stu probably not which is a little dissapointing anyway good luck to the lad
-
In regards to Deasy I notice that when he appears for us he'll have played for us, Vics and Macc. Who was the last player to do that?
Thinking about it I can't really remember any. I can think of a few who played for us/Macc/Runcorn (john imrie) or us/vics/Runcorn (Eddie bishop?)
But not many if any for Alty/Macc/vics
Go.....
-
If Ian Senior rates him then that's good enough for me. Let's give him a chance before he gets berated on here. Marshall and Griffin got slagged off every week and now they are two of the most popular players at the club.
Welcome to Alty Tim
-
He did say dootson was good and it would be odd if he didn't rate him

anyone remember Doots' performance at Grimsby in our penultimate game of that season? Keeper's can't win

I remember it Ian. It was all right. What point are you getting at?

Dootson was shocking for us which was dissapointing because at staylebridge he was class I go most matches didn't happen to see the Grimsby game can't comment however in my eyes keepers can win I wouldev gave neuer world player of the year not Ronaldo
-
Football can be cruel, one minute a hero, the next a villain. I would still maintain that Doots was a decent keeper, but that's the beauty of football, everyone has different opinions.
-
With respect, Ian can't do anything BUT publicly support the keeper the club has just signed.
I'm happy to be proved wrong, but I don't see how anyone can interpret the signing of a 30 year old keeper, untried at this level in 4 years, as anything but a confirmation of the goalkeeping status quo.
The stat about clean sheets is a red herring. It's 28 clean sheets against strikers playing in THREE leagues below this level. Tim Deasy won't have come across strikers of Conference Premier standard for some years.
You can spin it all you like folks, but if Tim usurps Stuart next season I'll eat my metaphorical hat.

If you're alluding to the mistake against Eastbourne it was unfortunate but the performances before that were far from heroic. As Jimmy says, decent keeper at Stalybridge but he looked injured playing for us, barely seemed able to jump for any high shots and I think Grimsby may have been his only clean sheer, or he may have played in the game we drew 0-0 with York? Seem to remember shuddering whenever anyone shot from outside the area.
In fairness he was playing in a terrible side.
-
The fact remains we have signed Tim, I'm sure he will excellent competition for Stu, and I personally am looking forward to working with the 2 of them next season. Good luck to both of them!! Now we move on to additions elsewhere on the pitch.

Think the point Ian is trying to get across is 28 clean sheets at any level isnt bad going. And 30 for a keeper is hardly his best years behind him.
Its not a bad signing, although may not be a long term solution to replacing Stu I think will provide decent cover.

Fair post Nasha
-
Think dootson gets unfairly blamed for Eastbourne. Was a pretty steady keeper all in all and if you concede 4 goals to the bottom side at home it isn't just down to one player for me.
Good luck Tim. Also 30 is not past your best for a keeper to whoever mentioned it. It's widely regarded that keepers are at their best after they turn 30 in a lot of cases

John Imrie played for Vics as well - so he is one

Phil Power is another one to have played for Vics, Macc and Alty.

Steady keeper? He was horrendous. Fleetwood away seems to have been forgotten as well.

Cult, Phil Power is the player I was alluding to.

Point taken, but look at the steady downward trajectory of his career: League 2 > Conference premier > Conference North > Evostik South.
Anyway, I'm labouring the point a bit here. Good luck to him, hope he proves me wrong.
-
We are simply not going to sign a top notch quality keeper better than stu and sit him on the bench....who would come and do that?
So welcome Tim, hoping you will prove a steady keeper and I'm sure you will get games.
What is more important for us is to have a more solid team ahead of the keeper...that is priority number one.
When stu does retire or make clear he is happy to be 2nd choice I am sure we will bring in a suitable number one keeper....but how do you replace God??? ;D
I do agree a preferable option would be to bring in a young promising keeper and develop him....but lets wish Tim all the best....
-
Slightly off topic....thinking of ex Vics players made me wonder where John McAliskey was these days. Apparently he was last heard of with Royal Dolphins in Division 2 of the Huddersfield League. Still only 30. And no we shouldn't be looking at him :D

I think the keeper is a priority and we shouldev made the plunge and got a keeper who is better than stu but we have took the easy option however I do think deasy will be a good number 2 keeper

Coburn is arguably one of the best keepers in the league.
He has showed this season he still has more to give.
Good luck Deasy.
-
If coburn was still one of the best keepers in the leauge then deasy would be a good signing as number 2

Val only played for Vics (twice) of those clubs. Also Hyde, Halifax, and Southport.

Lee Elam played for both V*cs and Alty to i recall
