Draw?
With Aldershot win a close second?
-
Aldershot ideally need a win, draw minimum to stave off Southend and close down on Halifax somewhat. If this aides Southend not making play offs then I'm for that.
-
Aldershot win for me
-
A draw will do, but I wouldn't mind an Aldershot win.
-
Gateshead have made eight changes, and Aldershot have rested Stokes and Tolaj.

They're on the bench though. Come on you Shots! 😉
PS. Still 0-0
-
Gateshead down to 10. Straight red.Harness the keeper. Shots 1-0.
-
Gateshead keeper - straight red. Aldershot don’t look particularly likely to score however, despite the man advantage…
-
Correction, maybe they do look like scoring….
-
Theyve not subbed after sending off. No sub keeper?

Think they've put a defender between the sticks.
If Aldershot can't get this done, they don't deserve to be in the play offs imho.
PS. Hope I haven't jinxed em! 😉

As much as I wouldn't have been that averse to a Gateshead victory - because I'm confident we'll win on Saturday to go Top 5 either way - last night was probably the best outcome all around given that Shots absolutely laboured to the victory unconvincingly, despite Heed having an outfield player in goal - and Heed were chasing an additional man for 45 minutes.
Those two and Halifax really aren't looking convincing at all, and Solihull not much better either.
One of them really needs to scrape through at the expense of Southend.
-
We could really do with Halifax getting a streaky late winner v Oldham tonight to knock Southend out of the process.

That would be my preferred option too.
Playing either Halifax or Aldershot at home would be the best option for us imho.
-
Will be much clearer after tonight. Think I prefer a Fax win, draw as minimum.
-
Halifax two feeble draws and Shots to do the same - Southend to win 5-0 and be fuming!

That would be quite amusing. 😏
-
Oldham 1 up.
-
1-1 ht
-
2-1 Oldham. Penalty.
-
2-2 now with about 20 to go.
-
Finished 2-2 so 7th is still up for grabs. To be honest, I can't see both Fax and Shots losing on Saturday so it'll be a case of who can get the better result.
-
I can't see Halifax getting a result at Eastleigh but Aldershot in the playoffs with a negative goal difference?
Not what I want but I think Southend deserve a shot at the playoffs.
-
I don't think Halifax and Aldershot will both lose. I also think Rochdale may get a point at Southend.

Halifax did equalise but Southend aren't buried yet. If both Halifax and Aldershot lose tomorrow and Southend win they'll all have 68 points. Southend have the best goal difference. We need either/or Halifax or Aldershot to get a point to sink Southend.Or Southend fail to win.
-
Surely for the love of God, one of Halifax or Aldershot have got to pick up a point at the weekend... haven't they?
If it's Southend, bring it on - we've beaten them at our place in the past two seasons and will do it again.
-
Exactly MA. Any opponent coming to the JDS should be worried about us.
The 10 points Southend had docked has really drenched their chips. It's chastening to think they'd be 4th instead of us without the penalty.
-
Halifax broke our hearts last season and get on my tits in general.
Gateshead games generally bore me and they were very good at our gaff.
Southend are best team of the 3.
So basically there is not much between them. So just make sure we play at home
-
Given that they've been in administration and the take over still hasn't been sorted (the EFL might not even accept them back under those circumstances) I'm not even sure they should be allowed to compete in the play offs.
Like others have said though, we'll be at home if we beat Oxford and we're not too bothered about who we play at home. We should be confident.
-
Under normal circumstances, Halifax would be the very last team I'd want to play but given they've played a game pretty much every other day now for a few weeks, we really should be hoping for them. Aldershot appear to have deteriorated since our last meeting and would also represent a decent match for us.
Gateshead and Southend would not be great fixtures for us, though our record against both in recent years has been 50/50.
Bring on whoever.
-
Yes. I've been thinking about it and come to the conclusion that it doesn't matter who it is as long as we get a home eliminator game so really a win tomorrow is very important.
Fourth or fifth too, I can see the pros and cons of playing Barnet or Bromley. If we can get to the final we'll most likely have to play both anyway.
As Alty Bri says, bring it on!
