Title: Can we rearrange a game for Tuesday?
Post by: Mrs Warbouys on January 30, 2016, 02:01:22 PM
Any chance of playing Tuesday and sending the reserve/those not involved Tuesday team to Crewe on Wednesday?

I guess the Wrexham game on 9th Feb must be in real doubt now?

Also Lincoln on the 13th, Chester 16th and Guiseley 20th - we incapable of hosting conference football at the moment

Maybe time to get on the phone to Droylsden? Borrow their ground for a month or so

I know the Droylsden comment was tongue in cheek but on a serious note if this carries on what is the possibility of playing a few home games at Trafford? They rarely have any pitch problems,it's only up the road and could quite easily manage our crowds.

Is Trafford conference graded? There's options about certainly

The Droylsden comment wasn't tongue in cheek

Trafford won't be conference graded

Only other options would be Stockport or Macc, Chester a bit to far

Stalybridge & Hyde would also be possibilities.

I presume it's being considered then?

Is Curzon conference graded? It was when it built. We are so poor away from home we need to move heaven and earth not to play elsewhere

I'd be very surprised if it was, as I can't see that there is any need to.

Next week seems to have been kept a bit clear (other than the County Cup) as virtually the entire first team squad are flying out to Dublin tonight for a bonder. Have a good one lads

We are a couple of games behind others in the league with other teams on 28 games. Hardly a huge backlog to panic about. Really i think some of you need to calm down a little.

Fair comment in that the average number of games played per team is just under 30. However, with so many of our outstanding games being at home & the pitch clearly constituting a problem it isn't unreasonable for people to be concerned. We don't want to be in a position whereby we have to play twice in a midweek in April.
To return to the original question - the simple answer is no.
Incidentally, I found my way to the Manchester Regional Arena (home of N*******h Manchester Villa) this afternoon - in the shadow of the Wastelands, tram stop adjacent, all-seated, capacity in the several thousands (gate today for NMV 0 Ashton Town 2 was 41!), decent grass pitch, good enough floodlights; only major drawbacks that it's in the middle of an athletics track & has little or nothing in the way of social facilities; another possible emergency venue?

I think it is, and their pitch is very good.
