Will we be able to pay on the day? And will we be put in the usual place?
Also, are they as bad as their opening result suggests? And is my friend (and formerly on Alty's staff as I remember) Chris Millington still the assistant manager?
It's a funny thing, I remember the first time I went there shortly after their first relegation from the Football League and we were furious it cost eight pounds to get in, and their ground was considered one of the worst. Now I'll be grateful just to get in at all, and their ground is one of the best (even if it did bankrupt the old club)!

I saw Salford (Rugby, I did forget there's a football team too !) there a couple of years ago and was surprised at the new main stand and general tidiness of the ground.
Memories with Alty include the game being called off just before kick-off (Paul Rowlands was manager I think?) because the corner area (quarter circle) was frozen, we ended up watching Bradford City v Wrexham.
A night match when we were miffed at having to pay more than than the home fans to get in, then we had some stewards looking directly at us for the 90 minutes, very weird.

Think Chris Millington is assistant manager there I believe hes fairly local to Alty or was

Same starting 11, dependant on Fitzpatricks injury.
Halifax 1-2 Alty (Dinanga, Colclough)
300+ away fans

That would be fantastic. Hope you're spot on with that.
Being a glass half empty kind of bloke, I'd be more than happy with a draw.
-
Halifax are a good team who by all accounts, were very unlucky to lose their opening game. However, after Torquay, we've every reason to be optimistic. Looking forward to watching with 300+ others on Monday.
-
I feel one small factor that could give us the edge is whilst we have a day off and presumably a full training session on Saturday afternoon, Halifax will have to take the 8 hour round trip down to Woking. Small margins important it what I think will be a fairly even game.

Though equally another game played at this very early stage could give them a wee bit more zip.
Come on Alty.

I think this could be a big advantage. We lost at Halifax last season after a 48 hour turnaround and got pumped at Solihull under similar circumstances. For a part-time team, it’s exactly when you’d want one of our ‘Macc’ games to fall.
-
Same stating 11 if possible, should Fitzpatrick be unavailable Bunny to start.
Always goals at the Shay.
Halifax 1-3 Alty (Mooney x2, Colclough)
-
Fancy a 2-2 draw. Away attendance 267.
-
Think will be the same starting XI at Halifax (bar Bunney at LB if Fitzpatrick unfit)...
Some may clamour to try to fit Furman in, but shouldn't change a winning team (unless injuries); especially after such an impress result at Torquay... Furman will probably be on bench...
Predicted score: Halifax 1-2 ALTY (Colclough, Dinanga)
Alty fans - hopefully over 250
COYR! :)
-
275 Alty see a two nil Alty victory. We score a pen.
-
I think this match could be a lot more difficult for us than many on here seem to believe.
I'm not saying that we won't be able to get something out of it, of course we can.
However we don't have a great record there.
I'd settle for a point but am hoping for more.
At the end of the day, if the team continues to gel, that's the main thing.
I'd predict 1-1, but hope for 1-2 with the rub of the green.
Come on you Supers, prove me wrong (again!)
Whatever the score, we're all right behind you!
-
I dont recall us doing well there at all, the pitch always appears huge. I think it will be close. I'm not sure they are prepared for what we can do if we gel, I think they are a middle of the road conference team. We'd have been beating during our run last year and getting beat 1-0 in the second half of the season. I'm holding onto the fact that they have had 1 days rest after travelling to London and we spent tue. thur and sat preparing for the game.
-
I can remember us winning 4 3 there not so very long ago - great game too as so often they are v Fax.
Hoping for the rub of the green from the officials this year. Would once again take a point but all three results are possible tbh.

On the JL site it notes the ref gave 42 yellows and a few reds in his 14 games last season so let's hope he gives us a couple of marginal penalties! 😉
-
In some ways its a free hit as most would have been happy with 2pts from the first 2 games. A win and a win vs Dover will get a lot of people excited about us.
-
Travelling in hope rather than expectation - we haven't tended to get much from there in recent times and we know they're a good team.
Hoping we can get up for it as much as we did Torquay.

I'd be one of them! 😉

Is it me but our commentator sounds like he's had a beer or two

Sounded like we were well beaten at The Shay this afternoon.
Here's Halifax's opening goal:

And here's the second goal (is it Pringle with the curious attempt at a defensive header which only succeeds in teeing up the goalscorer?):

Why was the bloke on the left allowed all that space to break forward. Terrible.
-
Wonder if the lack of game Saturday meant there were a few beers supped this weekend.
Attrocious defending there by a group of lads who you'd think had played a game this weekend. Thought we were meant to be one of the fittest sides but 8 games off means we look done in.

TT should not be getting beaten that far out.

Why the hell didn't Brad Jackson put in a challenge or even close down? Poor poor goals. Where is Kosylo?
-
Shoddy defending for both.
-
Kosylo still not fly fit after minor injury. He did some warm ups today
-
The conceded goals look even worse on the video than where we were sat at the other end of the ground. What was Pringle doing with that header??. We lacked quality in the final third today as well, despite creating a few opportunities.
Never got going today other than few around 10 minutes in one spell.
Game to forget and move on. Not sure what went on with the evictions from the ground but a good following from Alty supporters.
Interested to see what Phil has to say.

Tough afternoon to take, exacerbated by an attention-seeking steward and heavy-handed police officers. Kicking people out of the ground was utterly ridiculous, the fella wanted a fight from the first minute.
As for the football, it showed they had an extra game in the tank - much sharper than us all over the pitch and the scoreline was more than a fair reflection of that.
Unlike Torquay, many usually reliable players were far from their best - Senior was particularly poor, Bunney didn't contribute anything down that side, and Kirby struggled to make an impact whatsoever. Same with Hancock.
Dinanga had one of the most contrasting games I think I've ever seen - hopeless in the first half, looked a different player in the second half - put himself about a bit, looked more confident and held the ball up well.
Despite the unfortunate assist for their second goal, I thought Pringle looked reasonably decent when he came on, and Jackson showed some good flashes too.
Tom Hannigan deserved better.
Still, we'd have taken 2pts at this stage with 2 opening away games (although Torquay's result yesterday might put that one into context) and we have 3; winnable home game at the weekend to get us going again.
The Three Pigeons is a cracking boozer.
Onwards and upwards.
-
I'd agree with most of the above, but I thought Bunney had a decent first half before seeming to run out of steam. Lack of match fitness I'd say - he'll come good.
