Doubt it. We almost always only sign players for a single season at a time. Matty probably just asked to be released since this is a big chance for him. I'm gutted, but think the club did the honourable thing in releasing him.

You'd like to think we atleast got a nominal fee. Surely even we're not stupid enough to just tear up his contract and say 'Not a problem Matty,enjoy Australia'

We seem to be "honourable" alot of the time, personally i'd like us to get a more ruthless streak, i'd like to see more ambition replace fair minded -ness.

I know the board have done a fantastic job at Alty but I can't help feel we bend over at times where other clubs wouldn't.

Crowell and McGregor are both big losses in my opinion, surely we haven't let Crowell go for nowt??

How do we know he had a contract? Some contracts now are month to month also.

By the way my comments are only applicable if he was on a contract or we had the option of keeping him.
