Actually scrub that, they are away to Winsford.

Bloody hell.

Now to check Flixton - is that any good? Is there a bar?

Altrincham FC First Team / Say Hello to.....

Don't forget to say hello to Melanie at Trafford tonight, and ask her if they can switch their kick off time so we can have a double-header when York play Alty!!!!

You can also get the Gaelic games. Lucky you... ::)

To be fair I am not a great fan of the Irish but I must admit I did use to enjoy Hurling and Gaelic Football when they used to show it Saturday mornings on Channel 4. It's pretty full on stuff, the fact they are prepared to smash each other in the face with sticks is reason enough for them to deserve my attention!

I have installed Setanta this evening and the picture is a bit grainy to be honest.

Watched a bit of Lens v Lyon, could be quite a good channel for random and bizarre sporting events, I suppose the "Blue Square Premier" fits the bill in that respect!!!!

I thought you might have learned the lessons from last season when you invited FC United to play a friendly and they acted like a set of tossers, Bury are just the same, a dreadful set of wankers.

If it's any consolation we started our pre-season campaign last season with a home game with Darlington and we got absolutely walked all over 2-0. Back in the day we used to turn our noses up at Darlington as being inferior to us and so it was a bit of a shock to see them urinate all over what we thought was going to be a promotion-chasing side.

By May we were 1 game away from Wembley and had our best season in 13 years.

So, don't fret. To analyse the team at this early stage is silly nonsense.

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Reserves
« on: July 07, 2007, 10:11:34 PM »
I can't see how any full-time professional club can operate without a reserve team, and one playing in a decent standard league.

We nearly lost ours 3 years ago but the fans raised the money to keep it going. Last season we beat Lincoln 2-0, Doncaster 7-0, Sheffield United 3-1, Grimsby 1-0 away etc etc as we had quite a good side. Next season the likes of Leeds, Sheffield Weds, Barnsley will be in our division.

I think it shows the professionalism of Jim Harvey who is a bloody good manager, and actually it is the smaller clubs lower down who benefit from playing strong opposition and who get the most out of being in the reserve league.

Very Good but the Forest finish rather spoils it, I was expecting Wembley to be the final shot

The Forest finish is because a friend of mine persuaded me to replace the original Bootham Crescent ending with Forest because he wanted to put it on YouTube.

The original is designed as an anti-celebration of York City's 75 years at Bootham Crescent, as a reaction to the club's "celebration", tour ground which will demolished within the next decade.

Gutted that the Alty game at our place is on a Tuesday night, that wrecks a few plans I reckon. no Frank Sidebottom this season!

That said, New Year's Day could be a good time to organise a session - you are away at Northwich, we are away at Droylsden. Also on the Bank Holiday Monday (Aug 27th) we are at Northwich while you are at Stafford.

Saturday Jan 19th is already in the diary - now, all we need is Trafford to be at home on the same day and for them to move their kick off forward and my great money-spinning "festival" idea might just work. Bit bloody cold though!

Just you watch them go,they'll win it by a country mile. It'll be the best thing to ever happen to Torquay, much like it was for Carlisle and Shrewsbury.Jim Smith will be out of a job by the end October aswell.

I'll bet you entry into the Brickhouse and 4 pints at the end of the season that you are talking bollocks.

Who says Alty are a joke?

Crawley are a joke. Northwich are a joke. Even us at York are a bit of a joke when we lose our best players for nothing every season.

Don't worry about it. It's usually fans of clubs that you've beaten or have frustrated that call you a joke. At least you haven't gone into administration, you don't have a 3-sided ground, you don't haemorrage £500,000 per season, you don't have a reputation as troublemakers, your officials don't grass up other clubs to save your own necks, you don't play dreadful hoof or time-wasting football and play for 0-0 draws away from home, etc etc.

Torquay will win the conference.

Don't be silly Peter, Torquay must have one of the worst records in English football over the past 5 years, you don't turn around a losing culture like that in one season.
