Hi Darren,
I also saw this on ebay and asked the informed John Laidlar the same question.
He told me:
"Hillcrest were sponsors in 2001-02 and he thinks they also did another season which he is checking up on. The orange kit was first worn in November 2001".
Are you trying to win it on Ebay or were you just curious?

I have to say, whilst I hate these new 'luminous' shirts some teams wear, I quite like this orange one and the yellow we wear at the moment. We should stick with colours like that rather than crappy pale blue City mock-ups.

On a side note, does anyone else remember a few years back when Rangers brought out a really nice orange away strip, then had to change it as the season started for 'political' reasons?  :D

Just curious as i cannot seem to remember seeing Alty playing in it. Ps it wouldn't fit me  >:( >:(

A lot of them wore it last year pre UEFA 2008 final but changed on the day to the orginal blue as they were told they wouldn't get in the stadium wearing that colour shirt.

In another e-mail later that day from JL he tells me it was first used in the away fixture at Frickley (Nov 2001-02 season).
I'll let you know if he finds out any more info. He also sent me a photo of the youth team wearing it that season, but as I don't own  photo i won't put it on here until i get John's permission.  ;D

If my mind serves me right,we wore Hillcrest from 2000-2002,until Geoff took over the sponsorship towards end of 02/03 season (no sponser for most of that season),when Go Goodwins then became sponsors for the 03/04 centenry shirts until present.

The Orange shirt was worn rarely, one of those occasions being at Frickley,a 1-1 draw I think.

I'm pretty sure we only wore this once didn't we, in a 3-1 defeat at Frickley?

We were 3 down after 20 minutes and Graham was sent to the stands. I think their second was a clear assault on Stu but the referee allowed it to stand.

It was worn again although the exact game(s) escapes me. I know we never won a game when we played in this shirt and consequently it was considered to be very unlucky. I've still got it at home and wear it quite often.

First worn in 4-1 defeat at Frickley between the two Lancaster FA Cup Ties.

Last worn in a 3-0 defeat at Lancaster either later that season or the following one.

In between, I think that we wore it on a couple of other occasions, but as you say it was deemed unlucky & we never won in it.

Perhaps no thtis kit but did we wear an ornage number in the 3-0 win at Frickley that all but clinched promotion in 1999 or was it yellow?
