Flynny should do one of those old 1970s World Cups style commentaries that were done over the phone!

Remember them anyone?

Sinnout!  Trafford goal (26) - Doughty tackle leads to Trafford free kick on the edge of box. Set piece curled into bottom corner. Trafford 1-0 Alty

and Trafford Goal (29) - Reid spills ball to feet of the attacker who bundles it into an empty net. Trafford 2-0 Alty

Half time. Trafford 2-0 Altrincham. Not much to shout about for the Robins so far. Lack of width and looking out of ideas up front.

One sub at half time for Alty. Lawrie replaces Moult.

ALTY CHANCE (53) - Lawrie picks up the ball before surging into the box and ghosting past the centre half. Shoots just wide across goal.

ALTY CHANCE (61) - Walshaw receives through ball in the box but shoots wide under pressure.

ALTY CHANCE (71) - quick free kick sees a one two between Lawrie and Walshaw, with the latter eventually closed down by the Trafford keeper.

ALTY CHANCE (85) - Perry fires over an open goal from 5 yards out. Sums up the evening really.

Very disjointed performance all over the pitch.  Not much went right at all.

I think with Dens, Richman, Reeves and Stuart in it might have been different but, especially first half, we were very poor.  Created a little more in the second half but with no end product.

And sorry of it's harsh but I would not be confident in Adam Reid if he was forced into starting a league game.  He needs to come on a bit yet for me.

As ever, great tidy setup against Trafford and they looked OK without being spectacular.

A sh*t end to a sh*t day for me!

We were spectacularly bad. And whilst we deserved nothing, it has to be noted that even ATS acknowledged that the referee was disgracefully poor. Saturday, Halifax is a vital yardstick to our progress since last season (if any).

Nothing to do with tonight we need atleast 3 who are quality players at this level and would walk into team I didn't go tonight so can't comment On the actual game

Couldn't understand what sort of formation we were trying to play tonight if I'm honest, but that's what preseason games are for. A few points though.

* I acknowledge we had players missing but we were that uneffective down the right side we actually stopped playing it down that side, we must sign an attacking right sided player that can beat a man and put a cross in

* Frustration set in far too quickly, the ref was not fit for this level, and things were frustrating out there but needless bookings for dissent will cost us dear, as will petty spats with opposing players.

* Looked for one more pass too many times, if there's an opening at 2 down have a dig.

The friendlies are about fitness and trying things out, we tried something's out, it didnt work. The yardstick friendlies are Saturday against Halifax (who lost 5-3 at BPA tonight) and Wrexham (who won 1-2 at Colwyn bay tonight)

We really do need another right sided winger for balance if nothing else. Not sure what 11 I'd pick to start at Worcester just yet, was getting close, but after tonight Im not so sure.

Despite the result and the performance, I managed to grab some semi-decent shots.

well I didn't go....but Trafford seemed to have a bunch of more physical players??

Who is Trafford's boss?...he seems to have done an excellent job on what must be miniscule resources...

Question, admittidly we lost 2-0 but in general were we solid at the back? I am just wondering if we were inviting pressure on to us to work on the defense and then gave the ball away in the final 1/3 so they could come back at us and keep trafford hunting the win rather than making them dispondent and throwing in the towel?

The defence was the least of our problems. We were poor in midfield (Rodgers gave more away than Smooth Radio, and Clee is carrying an injury), while Perry and Walshaw did little to inspire confidence.

When is Clee never NOT carrying an injury?  :(

I thought Williams did pretty well against Accrington and Tranmere.  He didn't do well against Trafford but was in good company.

Judging by the fact that no player did anything of note against Trafford, I think the manager is probably right in that they were heavy legged from the weekend.

I would have to say that Williams was possibly one of our better players against Trafford. He did seem to have to cover for Buzz quite a lot which might have had an adverse affect on his performance.

Have to say he doesn't look slow to me at all and he reads a game well enough that his percieved lack of height may not be such an issue as some would have us believe. Anyone remember Paul Cuddy who wasn't exactly a giant but was a very effective CB?

That being said I can see him ousting Buzz at LB if Scott moves into the middle with Luca

Telford Supporters of my acquaintance would suggest that he is more of a Centre Back than a Midfielder

I would venture to suggest that even if you had seen such evidence, you would be reluctant to admit so publicly

If Rodgers had to play 45 mins because a player went off injured, he could fill the gap - and did so against Worcester well (clean sheet)

However, Im not sure how confident Id be with him playing 90 mins for a run of a few games if we had injuries/suspensions

Without getting into psychology Jimmy you can only be judged with any impact upon yourself if you allow yourself to be so judged.

We will not win the league if Rodgers is our third centre half

We looking weaker at the back than last season

We're OK at the back. Densmore-Havern-Williams-Leather is fine with me. I think Williams will turn out to be a quality signing. Midfield ? Well, no Richman so far, and he was a key component last season. I'm not quite panicking yet......but we need to stuff Mossley.
