2 teams with not my much at stake. Assume Burgess won't be permitted to play and we'll play 3 cb's
Byrne
Jones. Ferguson. Baines
Welsh-Hayes. Marriott. Lundstram. Jones
Oyedele
Hulme Linney
Oldham 1-2 Alty (Linney/lundstram)
-
A win here would do a lot to secure our highest finish this Century in the NL.
The above team can do it.
There's plenty to play for for us here.
And make no mistake, Oldham will be well up for it after their defeat at ML.

Barring injuries, I don't think you are far off the mark here.
-
Plenty to play for, with 18 points still up for grabs id hope we will do everything we can to gate crash the playoff places however unlikely
-
Being 12 points off the playoffs and 14 off relegation, we're about as marooned in midtable as you can get really.
A good chance to treat the rest of the season as a bit of a glorified pre-season, push the boat out a bit and see what happens if we keep on attacking.
-
The last games are all about getting ready for next season. To get into the group of genuine play-off contenders we need improvement in every area. Only 3 clubs have conceded more goals and that's with a team who keep possession very well.
2 2 draw.
-
Yes to the team at the head of this thread.
Think it'll be a draw.

Yes. We’ve tightened up a bit in recent weeks but our GA column has to improve significantly next season whilst ideally maintaining our well known attacking threat. Start of next season we ideally won’t have such a high turnover of players which should help. Our usual tortoise like start needs to be improved on.
As for tomorrow I reckon a bit of end of season knockabout and a Desmond sounds right. Show Oldham what they could have won in Linney. I see on the FB group we’ve now sold just over 300 tickets, hoping we fetch about 500 over.
-
It'd be good to try and make our goal difference column a positive one. A big ask but its a target.

Delighted if we get that.

That's quite a challenging target 🎯
We would need to score two goals per game and keep six clean sheets.
Wouldn't a more reasonable target be a top half finish? (for the first time in donkeys years!)
Another good one would be to win as many games (or more) than we've lost.
Or perhaps set a new points total for the season.
All in all, plenty to play for! 😉
Come on you Robins 👍

Delighted in the end to get a draw from that. For about 75 mins we really seemed to struggle to make even the simplest of passes find a team mate, very bad, and pretty much the whole team were as bad as each other. Don't think we had any kind of shot until Max scored.
Subs seemed to change the game and we even scored from a corner. What a crazy game this sport is. Gutted last Saturday but was laughing at that finish today.
First time I ever used the streaming service. Pictures were OK to be fair but sound was very odd - the commentator seemed to be speaking over a CB or police radio and the "co-commentator" seemed to be speaking over a CB or police radio with a pillow over his face.
-
Top draw in the end.
Miles better team with Sinclair and Maxi on the pitch.
I know we only have one fit and good enough winger in Sinclair, but we need to get back to wingers.
Starting Osborne over Maxi was criminal. Osborne was truly dreadful, yet again, he chases shadows.
Desperate for Byrne to do well but he was poor on both goals.

All this.
Two weeks running with tears in my eyes at the end. Can't bear much more.
-
We were really poor, baines and Osbourne especially.
Better when Oyedele and Sinclair came on.
The referee was woeful
Oldham need lessons in game management
-
You can only imagine that Tyrese is still not 100%. Osborne for Oyedale is inexplicable.

Just got back. Couldn't have put it better myself.
Couldn't get a programme which was disappointing.
Not as disappointing as Osborne though who was appalling. No surprise that things improved with Oyedele on the pitch.
Also, I don't think the wing back plan is working. Let's go back to a back four and play a wide front player.
Big hoofs to MWH were very predictable and he was pounced on every time.
Byrne? Yes, a good shotstopper but...
Oldham? As we sang, they're going to be here for years the time wasting, gamesmanship exponents.
-
Eighty minutes of dross , then ten + of magic . Superb fightback when James saw red inspired by the super subs . Before the fantastic finale they all looked to be off it , maybe a reaction to last week . Great vocal backing all game and that roar when the leveller went in , brilliant .
-
Another side that were there for the taking. After 70 minutes of looking like a pub side we somehow got our act together in the end.
If Notts and Wrexham go up this year we have an unbelievable chance of attaining football league status at thd end of next season. I really don't see anyone else who stands out from the pack.

Agreed on next season we will need 3 or 4 quality signings in the summer .
-
We're going to need (at least) a keeper, number ten (when Maxi goes) and a couple of goal-contributing wingers.
PS. Quite a few need to go apart from the loanees
-
A low quality game but you can only admire our fighting spirit to pull it back for a Desmond. The team as a whole looked off it but once Oyedele (incredibly good technique, a blinding finish) netted you could sense it was on. Sinclair one of those players who can make it happen, not sure how a bloke of his height powered home that header but it was a cracker. For 80 mins we might as well have all been in the pub in the Northern Quarter still it was that bad but we came alive when it mattered. Oldham didn’t have much about them & 2-0 flattered them anyway especially as their first goal was a weird combo of a handball & a foul on Byrne. I can see why none of their fans rate Unsworth if that’s what’s served up every week.
One thing that does need highlighting but I thought their pitch was appalling, far too dry & bumpy it didn’t suit our passing game one bit. Also we can’t talk with our away end really but 600 away fans there was no chance of getting service at half time at the sole open kiosk on the away end. Final gripe Oldham has 5 tram stops but none of them in the same universe as the ground unfortunately.
Anyway, we’ll see them for round 2 next season anyway…
-
Yes. The official away fans figure was 609 but I thought there were quite a few more than that.
PS. I suppose it might just have been the noise generated!
-
It seems ironic how two games in successive weeks both ended in draws, ignoring penalty shootouts, but felt so different.
Last week, we should have been out of sight against Halifax long before the end, but today we weren't in the game at all against a mediocre Oldham team until that dramatic turnaround at the end, with first thoughts being that we suddenly started playing when it's too late
I can only think that the players were fired up by the injustice of what looked like a very harsh red card from a referee who seemed intent on favouring the ex-EFL team, and I was especially pleased for Tyrese Sinclair who seemed distraught at the end of the Halifax match.
-
We're overdue a competent set of officials. Monday maybe ?

Magnificent in the end.
Like most, agree that we were poor for 80 minutes, tho9ugh the first goal 100% should have been ruled out due to a handball followed by a foul on Byrne.
Think those blaming Bryne for either goal are being unfair to the lad - the first he was fouled for, the second he turned a strong shot round the post and had no time to recover to block the ensuing close range shot.
Jones' sending off was unfair - we should appeal if the footage bears out this general view- and the ref was their 12th man all game - a little Hitler strutting about desperate to please the home fans.
But the fighting spirit we showed for coming back and stealing a point in the last few minutes is exactly what the team needed to do, and exactly what the fans deserved. Maxi's goal was awesome and I cannot wait to see the highlights, and Tyrese totally deserved his winner after the injustice of last weekend - he made a huge difference when he came on , showed heart and fight and the way he, the players and the fans went nuts when he scored showed how much it mattered to everyone.
Belting day out - highlight of my league season - even better than Chesterfield away last season - the celebrations at the end will live long in the memory for both.
-
I didn't think Byrne was fouled in the run-up to Oldham's opening goal (just a collision, in my view) but there was certainly a whiff of handball about it.
For their second goal, my concern is that Byrne palms the free kick straight back into the danger area rather than away from goal. Having said that, the aftermath is all rather curious in that it's Eddy Jones' attempted clearance which bizarrely skews backwards and tees up their forward for a simple header into a vacant net.
I will happily consign the first 80 minutes to the darkest recesses of my fading memory. The closing 10 minutes were highly enjoyable.
Plenty of substandard performances yesterday but, as others have already observed, Osborne was particularly abject (summed up by that ludicrous attempted crossfield pass during the first half which ended up going out for a corner).
Good, honest post-match interview by Parkinson.
Incidentally, I wouldn't fancy living in one of those houses that backed onto the away end!

You’re not alone. Very odd layout whereby the away fans have to walk through Brookside to reach the turnstiles.

Having read the comments on that Good Friday game by many Oldham supporters on their forum, it would appear that some of them would be quite happy to bury David Unsworth under a patio.

Surely not as odd as walking through the library, and past the indoor pool at York?

Maybe we could introduce something more interesting for our away fans. Maybe a winding pathway trough the allotments from the King George to the turnstiles.

Fans used to walk through a cow field to get in at Cambridge.

Given the recent discussion around ground development, something like their north stand would be great in time - with conference facilities etc. However... the last thing we'd want is for something like that to become a white elephant - seems like theirs was completed a few years ago and has barely even been used. £5.75m price tag.

Was with a pal who lives and works in Oldham and has benefitted from hospitality there a few times. Apparently the lack of use was a result of the football club not 'owning' it. He did explain it to me, but it all sounded far too wearisome to repeat here. On a more positive slant, I thought Boundary Park was a well proportioned stadium and it was good to see all four sides populated, rather than having one (sometimes two) stands closed which has become the norm for most ex-FL clubs we visit.

On that note,we have sometimes had to walk up down and a hill in the park (was that some sort of Army exercise?) to get to the away end at Aldershot, and I think there was something similar on my one visit to Boreham Wood.
-
Enjoyed the day.....well did so after that utterly dire 80 minutes of dross from both sides.....thought stewarding / policing there also deserves a mention - just what you expect..respectful to our fans and threw out the few dickheads attracted by our recent rise into mid-table Conference football

Also a resident police presence.

Yes Aldershot's ambush alley!
Borehamwood is a gate and a little path to the turnstile?
-
The walk back to the car from Oxford was a bit hairy !!!
The stadium doors for the away fans was shut to stop the morons from getting in (when the police contacted the stadium, after calls from Alty fans, the Oxford reply was "no trouble here").
I blame Danny Adams for our last minute equalizing penalty ;D

Slightly harsh seeing it was Steve Aspinall who scored it and Danny had left us six years before that game.

https://youtu.be/lemapDOEuwM funniest Penalty ever.
Takes me back . Got caught up in the melee outside the gate and had to pretend to be an Oxford fan trying to get at the Alty fans or get a kicking . Very funny
The best bit was when they turned on each other 😂😂

Leon & Danny Adams my sincere apologies. It must be that brick I dodged at Oxford >:(
Wayno, brilliant. Blatant penalty though ;D
