I'm not a technical expert, but sometimes web pages open like this when I have a very poor internet connection. Check your connection, and try holding the shift key down on your keyboard whilst clicking the refresh button on your browser.

There's a YouTube video with a York fan's perspective on the game, along with some very good video highlights of the game. It gives a different perspective on the goals scored at the Chequers end. Stick around to watch his comments after the highlights, he makes some interesting remarks about the J. Davidson Stadium:

Does anyone know the circumstances of him becoming our manager? I remember John King leaving immediately after the Trophy final, but I don’t think there was any explanation as to why, or how the two clubs swapped managers.

Funnily enough, I've just found out the answer almost 40 years later. Paul Burton has been posting a series of press cuttings on the Moss Lane Memories Facebook page. Here's a quote from John King in the Manchester Evening News, reporting on his resignation: "My reason for leaving Altrincham was that I wanted to spend more time with my family. Running a scaffolding business and managing the club meant I wasn't seeing enough of them."

I also had an email from an old friend who remembers the managerial swap resulting from a drunken bet between King and Williams in the dressing rooms at Wembley after the final. I don't recall hearing that before - does it ring any bells for anyone?

Very sad news. A great manager and a gentleman.

Watched the Alty TV highlights and there is no doubt at all in my mind that Dorking should have had two players sent off, one after each of our goals. I'm now hoping they get relegated - a nasty little team.

I went to the game on Saturday with John Timmons who was a striker for Alty 86-88 ish. He hadn't been to an Alty game for some 30 years and he kept saying how much the game had changed since his day and how impressed he was with the standard of skill and fitness plus how much both teams actually passed the ball rather than lump it from one end of the field to another.

He was a great, great striker. One of the best finishers I've seen. I hope he's keeping well.

Oh yeah, Alty 3 Alex 0.  The crowd was segregated for the first time that I can remember and it was the biggest crowd that I had ever seen at Alty up until then (5,001).  The Alex fans were put on the grass bank in windy corner (where the CSH is now).

That was my first season watching Alty and my first FA Cup game. I remember being on the Chequers terrace. We absolutely took Crewe to pieces in that game.

After disposing of Rotherham in the second round at their ground, we then faced Leyton Orient at Moss Lane in the 3rd round. I sat in the main stand. I believe there were over 7,000 in attendance. We drew 1-1 after conceding a late equaliser, an attempted back-pass to Alex Stepney getting stuck in the mud and allowing Orient to score.

I wonder if we will we ever have another 3rd-round tie at Moss Lane?

I wonder why the Barnet programme wasn't the usual professional-looking Robins Review? Was that match scheduled at short notice?

Highlights stop suddenly for me before the end. Anyone else experiencing this?

I think it's just poor editing. You see Amaluzor's attempt on goal in the 94th minute, then a second or two of an Oxford advance in midfield and the clip ends. It's actually reached the end of the YouTube file, it just seems they cut it off prematurely.

OK, I'm going to be barmy now! This is part joke, part serious.

Can we swop sites with Altrincham Leisure Centre, They have ours and we have theirs.

I was about to suggest something similar. I was thinking the car park next to the leisure centre and train station. I haven’t been to Altrincham for years, so don’t know if that’s still viable. I think there may be an ice rink there? But we could build a new stadium right next to the train station and pretty much in the town centre.

I agree with Amsterdam Alty - we should look at alternative sites for a new ground. Much as I love Moss Lane, there's not much that you can do to grow capacity.

I saw a post on Facebook that Barry Howard has died. I'm not sure of its authenticity and can only hope that it has been reported in error.

He was my favourite player when I stated watching Alty in 1979. I still think he's the best winger we've had at the club.

Altrincham FC First Team / Katie Zelem

I’m watching the England vs China game, and the name Katie Zelem caught my attention. After checking on Wikipedia, it seems she’s the daughter of Alan Zelem, the Macclesfield goalkeeper who always seemed to play a blinder against us.

I’m now waiting to see if David “Slob” Ryan also has a footballing daughter.

I watched it and thought that it was aimed at potential investors in the club. It did seem a little odd for a publicly available video.
