Title: Yet again Dave Birch ruins a game
Post by: distancetraveller on March 16, 2011, 12:29:05 AM
For practically 45 mins tonight (plus 15 mins prior to the game) David Birch did nothing but berate Alty and generally annoy the punters on the popular side..

During the game he actually had a verbal pop at James Smith who responded  (for which I dont blame him)..

Mick had words with him but he just takes no notice...

The Stewards finally escorted him out of the ground (after I caught the T**t who was evading the stewards by running round the back of the stand).

I do realise that he isnt the full shilling but the time has now come where he should be banned from the ground.  All he does it annoy the fans and rants on about how sh*t the team is.

People may say that he has the right to express his opinions if he pays the entrance fee etc etc, what I say to you is,,,  You come and stand on the pop side and you will soon see what I mean.
The man is a fkn pain in the arse
Rant Over..

I've told the story before where I once left the ground pleased after a win and he ran up to me and screamed in my face "we'll lose next week...we'll bloody lose next week".

Quite why anyone would pay their entrance money to do what he does is ridiculous whether he is potty or not.

If he was 20 years younger then he could well start a fight in there.

There is expressing an opinion and their is puddled behaviour.

For his own safety, and to improve his quality of life as he surely can't enjoy that, he should be banned from the ground.

I think that the time has come for him to be finally banned as last night he swung for at least two people, one of whom was a steward.

He should be banned from ALL grounds by means of an ASBO. I was too far away to catch what James Smith had to say - anybody offer a translation please ?

When I said he could start a fight in there I was unaware he was swinging punches at people.  This is scandalous and he should be banned whether he is nuts or not.

Myself and Mrs Saughall used to love to stand near the centre line on the pop side but this season have been obliged to move as he has consistently spoiled matches for us. If he gets a well-deserved ASBO at least we can go back to our usual spots.

Ive heard him on several occasions making racist comments, Tamworth included.

It doesnt wash with me to just laugh it off because he is a senile old man. There are many senior gentlemen and ladies attending our club who manage not to behave like this.

I will be happy not to bump into the man when im back in a couple of weeks.

HE should be made to stand near the stewards office at home games, he would be out of earshot of most, and being there people can keep an eye on him.

I was on the popular side last night and he came over to me. He basically screamed in my face about the game whilst jabbing me in the chest with his finger. He also scared the young fan I had brought to the game, and basically ruined it for us for 20 minutes.

I thought the stewards dealt with him well, and distancetraveller I came over to help you as he looked like kicking off.

There is quite enough evidence on this thread (bearing in mind what a small section of our support post on here) to ban him for life.

His admission money is not worth the damage he is doing.

A younger person would never get away with half of what Dave Birch says and does. He will not censor thought or deed.

If I was a parent bringing my kids along to Alty for the first time and they were exposed to his disgusting behaviour there is no way I'd bring them again.

I'm sorry, I know we all use a bit of choice language from time to time and shoot our mouths off more than we should, but Dave Birch is a consistently rude and highly offensive individual who should be banned from Moss Lane permanently.

Does duckin denis still go , he reached cult status for taking a swing at jim kabia in the bad tempered northern premier league cup final defeat but that must be 38 years ago.
Who did steal bostons trophies that night?

Dennis does still go.  Whilst he is no angel he has much more self control than David.

He was stood within 5 yards of me last night on the front hoardings of the Pop side. After 35 mins of his mindless rants......he hardly even stopped to take a breath....I had more than enough and approched him and told him to either be quiet or clear-off (I know I used stronger words than that so apologise to anyone who had the misfortune to hear me 'explode').

He did exactly what I thought he would; he gave me a load of verbals and threatened me with this and that. So he got some verbals back (apologies again), before he gave me a push and then ran off............sorted - he had left the area. I could no longer hear him and that was all I wanted !

I do think though, the guy should have his own standing area where he is ringfenced away from everyone else and not allowed to leave until 10 mins after kick-off

Birch

"...associated with the Tír na nÓg, the land of the dead and the Sidhe, in Gaelic folklore, and as such frequently appear in Scottish, Irish, and English folksongs and ballads in association with death, or fairies, or returning from the grave..."

Never had the brothers down as Steeleye Span fans.

As I normally sit in the stand I did not have my first dose of David Birch until in away game at Bradford Park Ave. OMG I was certain he would get a good thumping for what bhe was saying. Fortunately the Yorkshire fans realised he was a nutter an ignored him. My thoughts at that time were why on earth is he allowed to bring down this club reputation.
He should certainly have been banned years ago.

How about installing the TISWAS Cage on The Popular Side; inserting David Birch in it and then providing Mick; Saughall Robin; distancetraveller et al with copious buckets of cold water and luminous gunge?

The point is Mr Birch spends £14 a week. But how much money has the club lost due to his antics from people who dont come again.

Give him an ASBO.

A couple of seasons ago when Alty were playing Kidderminster in the rain, sleet, snow, thunder and lightning (the game that was stopped for 20 mins), David was shouting his usual nonsense, a man quietly asked him to keep his noise down as there were children around stood with their dads, David immediately punched him in the arm and called him 'a f***ing hooligan'. He tried to start a fight and said he would get the police if the bloke spoke to him like that again. He then spent a while after the re-start calling the guy a 'f***ing hooligan'. He was finally removed.

The whole thing was quite funny, but he was lucky no-one smacked him. I think for his own sake he should be banned.

But surely he qualifies for the concessions price of £8 per game (or £115 for a season ticket)?

Either way, whilst I acknowledge that the club is in need of larger attendances, we are surely not that desperate that we have to stoop to allowing such offensive individuals into Moss Lane.

Many years ago at Hayes DB was stood at the front right behind the goal spouting his usual nonsense while doing that gyratory hip swivelling motion he perfected where his legs remain fixed and his upper body rotates through 270 degrees, when someone shouted something to him. He replied at full volume " I am not a knobhead" two or three times. Everyone fell about not least the Hayes 'keeper.

LOL I always think that way about Macc.
Wheni took my father to the Mansfield Game (think it was 2 years ago now we lost 2-1 at Home with the northwich lad we had on loan scoring for us in the 2nd half,it was the game we had 2 player sent off.My father and i were sat in the main stand as he was very fragile by then,Kenny sat with us chatting away.we were at the end of the front row right in the middle just by the players dugout. At the far end of the row was someone who started off,he got very nasty and it was all directed at Kenny,in the end Kenny had to move,i take it this is the person you ar on about.

The Brothers Birch ...

Dennis I actually don't mind. Very knowledgeable about football and had some nice chats with him in the bar after games and just gets passionate during the game... Bit like myself.

On the other hand David is a fruitcake and I have never heard him say anything positive about Alty .

Just chuckled to myself recollecting the conversations we used to have on the coach wondering what happens in the Birch's household on Xmas day ... "Lovely meal Dennis"

Dennis was smiling and happy when we got promoted ... I can still imagine David being annoyed though.
