Biggest game since Boston. Hoping Moult is available. Can't see Densmore playing 3 games in 8 days and not sure where Jones has disappeared to. Losing Con-Clarke really hamstrings our attacking options. Given the weather and the importance I predict a scrappy, nervous, error strewn affair
Thompson
Morgan Mullarkey Mudimu White
Moult Osbourne
Mooney Kosylo Colclough
Hulme
Alty 2-1 Weymouth (Hulme, Kosylo)
Can't say I'm looking forward to it

I would go for this.
I am really confident of 3 points.
-
Personally, I'd play Dens at full back, primarily because he is one. Morgan is a decent right mid, but not a full back and the game is just too important. I think PP will stick with Dens too.
-
Jamie Morgan is a full back.
-
When I have seen him play, he has looked anything but a full back. I felt Woking worked that out quite early and exploited the weakness.
-
Looking forward to the game. Let's get behind the Lads.
Personally, would play Dens at RB.
Let's get at them and dominate, and score a few goals..
-
How far off is Hannigan?
For the different signings made at cb, Sutton, Digie, Cooper etc our strongest partnership by a mile is Toby and Tom, on the mean time I’d be going with the team at the top of this thread 👍
-
I prefer Marriott to Osborne from what I've seen, and I agree Densmore stays at RB although would be wary of fatigue.
2-1 Alty.

If fit then Dens all day over Morgan.
I still feel next season we need new fullbacks at the standard required.
Chester fans rated Morgan going forward but not defensively. Got to defend at this level.

Not seen as much as you mate but from what I have seen I rate Marriott over Osborne.
Just on the ground he can cover.

Important we get the selection right - goes without saying ! But equally important we make the right tactical substitutions to either close the game down or to get us back ahead etc.
It will be nervous and we simply must not gift them a goal nor miss any penalties ::)
Hopefully we will sell all the Golden Goals this time

I am not convinced fully on either. Marriott is a bit of a headless chicken and Osborne just passes the ball sideways or backwards. Rarely loses the ball but doesn't do a whole lot with it either. Might get shot down for this but he is basically Sean Williams.
-
I think Sean Williams compares favourably with some of the loanees we've had.
-
Very favourably! SBL
-
Get Josh a few yards behind Jordan, 3-0.
-
Will the game still be on tomorrow?
How long is the bad weather forecast to last?
Don't know whether Weymouth will be able to travel up from the south coast.
Thoughts?
-
I would think it depends on how much water our new pitch can take. Weymouth may travel up here early
It’s a lot worse down south then it is up Alty way.
Not as bad as predicted in Shrewsbury as forecasted but I suppose there is still a chance it could get worse.
-
Think the worst of the wind will be over in Manchester by about 7pm tonight so as long as the ground hasn’t sustained any structural damage that side of things shouldn’t be an issue tomorrow.
WRT rain it’s hard to accurately assess the forecast tomorrow as it seems to be 50/50 for much of the day on the rain front but our pitch stood up to it very well vs Woking 2 weeks ago & we haven’t had a game P-P due to waterlogging since we got the pitch relaid last summer so I’d be cautiously optimistic about our chances of getting tomorrow on.
I do wonder about Weymouth though, assume they would have been coming up today but a 6 hour cross-country coach journey would not have been a good idea today so maybe they’ll have to start very early tomorrow instead, could be an advantage for us.
Finally there will of course be commercial considerations tomorrow too especially with the £5 offer, believe we are expecting around 2000ish in so a P-P & midweek & you can half that & hospitality & bar takings etc so another imperative to get it on.
Ooh that’s me told then.
-
Postponed, and a good postponement for us I reckon. They'll really struggle with their next 3 fixtures and it gives us a chance to have a bigger buffer for when we play them.
-
Game OFF according to main site, done by the league.
-
Yes. I think it's good for us in the long run IF we can pick up some points before we play them.
Whether we can is another matter.
I believe we can.
PS. Plus them having to travel up in midweek can only be a good thing for us especially if we can get the crowd in with the £5 deal and the game doesn't clash with the City/United European games.
-
As they're at home to Bromley on Tuesday, I'd guess we'll rearrange for Tuesday week 1st.March.
-
They've got Stockport at edgeley a week on Saturday so it'll be a lot of travelling in four days (unless they've got the cash to stay up here and train?)
Either way I don't think they'll fancy it being a week on Tuesday.
-
Pity the league wouldn’t PP our match with Solihull when COVID was rampant.. inconsistent to say the least.
Oh yeah BT Sports would have spit the dummy out.
-
Well that's messed up my plans and means more time off work to make a Tuesday game for the sake of a luxury coach leaving an hour early......but they did say avoid travel
Gotta stay safe these days ::)
-
Bit of drizzle but would be playable today. Joke of a decision. All because they didn't fancy travelling on the day.
-
Well my son made his 1.30pm appointment in South London having left at 9.30am......meanwhile Weymouth's footballers have a day at home watching the bobsleigh.
Preposterous

Let’s hope after we eventually play them, there chances of staying up, go downhill as quick as said Bobsleigh 😉
-
We're down to 19th, I think, now. I think it's where we'll end up.

maidenhead have 3 games in hand on us we will finish 20th IMO just above the drop zone
-
I agree but we could still out performance at least one of the teams around us like Barnet, Aldershot or Eastleigh who aren't exactly setting the world on fire either.
I hoped for 16th at the start of the season and we might not be that far away hopefully.

This is an encouraging point; we're still in touch with a large bunch of teams above us that we could reel in with a long overdue patch of good form.
A win against Weymouth, if we'd have gone ahead, would have taken us to the lofty heights of 14th.

Honestly given how fickle this forum is, string two wins together and we'll be going up.

Promotion or nothing for me

Weymouth 1 - 0 up against Bromley. We're down to 20th as it stands with Weymouth six points away.
Now 2-1 Weymouth 🙄
Finished 2-2. We're 8 points clear and they've played the same number of games.
-
I'd say most results went our way tonight with plenty of teams above us being held to drab draws, including against the likes of Dover and Kings Lynn.
Dagenham conceded a late equaliser at home to 10 man Woking, which might bode well for Saturday.
-
There's a bit of a mini league now forming from Yeovil downwards - possibly inclusive of them, looking at their form - amongst which we're the only northern team, and it's probably a fair reflection of the resources available to these teams compared to the top half of the league.
-
I expect us to win all of the remaining 15 games and end up with 75 points. Anything less will not be acceptable.
-
Definitely a good night for us, 8 points clear of the relegation zone & all of Weymouth’s games in hand have now gone (and our GD over them is 9 goals better) so we are effectively 3 wins clear of a side who have won 5 games all season. Obviously though looking at our remaining home games (5 of the 8 are against sides in 13th place or lower) especially our aim has to be to finish top of the mini league up to 14th where Eastleigh currently are & ultimately improve on last seasons 17th place.

It's actually 6 of 9 home games left against bottom half sides - the rearranged Weymouth match yet to be slotted in to the fixture list. Mind you, our recent home form doesn't inspire much confidence.

.
I'd absolutely rip your hand off for a 16th place finish at the moment!
For us to finish 14th, I think we'd need to string together a pretty good series of results. This is not beyond us, I feel, and three points on Saturday whilst Weymouth are getting annihilated at edgeley park would be a massive boost to us all.
Come on you Supers!

Good point Loz. Since I moved back up in October, I still have not seen us win a home game. Hoping that run ends very soon!

Any chance you could go to Stockport and support Weymouth? 😜
