3 points off the playoffs
« on: March 13, 2012, 11:10:57 PM »

We've dodged another bullet this midweek Alty.We won't be so lucky from now on.9 games left, all to play for, let's take heart from this.A lot of the games in hand now out of the way, let's take it by the scruff of the neck now, starting Saturday. We will have to do it the hard way, but it's all to play for, lets all get across to york street on saturday and do the business. Come on Alty.

We would have been sitting well in the play-offs if we hadnt blown the 6 gift points on offer against BS.

Only 2 PO games this weekend with Nuneaton v Hyde and ourselves vs. Boston

Everybody else is at home vs a bottom half.... So this week must about keeping up A's I doubt too many points will be dropped

Tuesday 27th March....

7.45pm   Bishop's Stortford   v   Hyde
7.45pm   Boston United   v   Worcester City
7.45pm   FC Halifax Town   v   Guiseley
7.45pm   Gloucester City   v   Gainsborough Trinity
7.45pm   Stalybridge Celtic   v   Nuneaton Town

7/8 playing each other midweek (when we play Corby)

These will be vital, we must make sure we're still in and around at this point

As mentioned previously we could really do with a centre back and left back for the run in.

We do come across as being very arrogant at times. Bs were a decent side, there were no gift points on offer. Or maybe "we really should be beating teams like bishops"

If expecting a result at home against a side in the bottom 5 when we are 6th is arrogant, then yes, that's me.

I always thought that "beating ones Bishop" was a reference to a practice indulged in by certain correspondents on this Forum from Stalybridge and Northwich  ;)

I'm not sure that we've dodged a bullet....but rather that they are now being fired at us from an additional direction.

Consecutive victories on Saturday afternoon and Monday evening by both Worcester City and Boston United have brought the pair of them right into the play-off mix.

So many points squandered by Alty this season, alas.

Vauxhall Motors (away); Colwyn Bay (home); Bishop's Stortford (home); Gloucester City (home and away) and so on.....

They're not in the bottom 5 any more, they're on a roll - confirmed by their result on Tuesday.

We haven't shown any consistency all season and so I'm not really surprised by any result. Based on the form I'd say we should struggle on Saturday so I'm half expecting us to have a big win but who knows.
