Probably the earliest I remember is the 'Gola, gola gola league' at the Birmingham City game.

After the it's got to 'skip to the ball Paul Showler'.

One from when I started going to southern matches more frequently, before a game at Kingstonian early in the season (mid 90's?)

We'll score again, don't know where don't know when,
but I know we'll score again some suuuuuunnnnyyyyyy day

made me smile anyway

(2-2 draw perhaps - Stu got sat on while they scored the second?)

One of my own fave chants ( how egotistical ) was away at barrow many years ago and singing to them " you've all been on crime watch la la la la "whilst they jumped up at a metal fence between us like rabid dogs

Even the local police laughed :)

Happy times

August 1999.....4th game of the season after 3 defeats without scoring a goal. Kevin Ellison's first goal for Alty & Gary Talbot scored the second.

Ecky conjured up some highlights of this match a while back....but I can't find them.

Rather impressively, in my view, I managed a  week's family holiday in Weymouth, neatly sandwiched between an away fixture at Yeovil & this game.

Our capitulation that season was the stuff of legend. We beat Sutton United 3-0 at home in early March to go 10th and were seemingly cruising to a mid-table finish. However, we then failed to win any of our last 11 games and went down.

I still can't believe it to this day.

First chant I recall was when I first started watching Alty in 1976 - for some reason the crowd would regularly chant "Tommy Cavanagh" followed by clap clap clap-clap clap before the teams were on the pitch. All I remember about him was he was the son of the Man Utd trainer and the programme notes always said that "big things were expected of him".

Nor me. Forest Green were dead and buried (or so it seemed) they seemed to win as many games as we lost at the back end of that season. They stay up, the rest is history.

First chant I can remember is zigger zagger although I have a soft spot for the simplicity of "We've got Colin Potts" to Franz Ferdinand tune.

Classics include:-

We all p1ss in a green and white pot

When I was young with not much sense...

Build a bonfire... (which is rarely heard anywhere these days)

We've been once, twice, three times to Wembley... (but I never want to hear that again cos we'll be playing Droylsden)

Who Needs Paul Mcgrath, who Needs Cantona?
We've got Mickey Hayde, he's much better by far (or something along those lines).
The first time I heard it was at Winsford away in the 92-93 season; it must have been an FAT or FAC qualifying game. We lost 1-0.

Other than Kenny's zigga zagga, the first one I remember was midfield maestro Heslop's take on the hokey cokey featuring Joey Pritchard's left foot (circa 1974).

I really like that - no matter how rose tinted the glasses the original doesn't really work at our level.

As a perpetual exile I like "we're here and we're from Altrincham..."  especially at Weymouth when we 'went down'
