ALTY SIGN LOAN PLAYER

Graham Heathcote has announced that Altrincham FC have signed Ryan Shotton from Stoke City on loan for a month. Graham has been watching Ryan for some time and the 6ft 1inch centre-half goes into the squad for tomorrow's game at Woking. Born on 30 September 1988, Ryan has been a regular in the Stoke City reserves side. He has been allocated squad number sixteen, the number vacated by Cavell Coo. The Stoke City site reports that "Ryan signed his first-ever professional contract with the club in the summer of 2007 following impressive performances at both Academy and Reserve level. The Fenton-born centre half is strong and quick, and is definately one for the future. Made his debut for the first team in the friendly at Macclesfield Town in July".

Would have prefered but a forward but if we needed some one to replace Carl this may be a good move.

I think this is a very good move as I'm less than convinced by the Munroe-Tinson partnership. The question is, will GH select this guy, or is he yet another bench warmer? So, welcome Ryan Shotton.

I think this is a sensible move given that Karl is missing for three games.

But I really hope Stephen Rose starts some games now - I thought he was excellent for us last season and is very unlucky not to be a regular.

Perhaps GH has one eye on the Cambridge match next Tuesday?

At the recent Fans' Forum, I seem to recall that he expressed concerns about how Stephen Rose would cope against the physical presence of Cambridge's big striker, Leo Fortune-West.

This guy is 19 though, think he will be able to cope with a big forward himself?

Lets hope he is a tower of strength and plays like a demon with Tinno and we keep clean sheets for a month 

Mind you if he is anything half as good as Carlos then I am sure GH has got a good player in.

You misunderstand, I am saying that maybe GH is not confident with Stephen Rose as third choice centre back (not that I have any facts to back that up) hence he brought the new lad in.

I like Rosie, although I do prefer Karl to him, and wouldn't have had a problem with him starting.

Its good that this new lad has pace, should work well with Tinno.

Yes I misunderstood you Ecky.   

I prefer Munroe to Rosie as well.  Rosie seems to be a squad man at the moment, nothing wrong in that thou as we have just started a long season and will no doubt need later on in the season.

How do you think Tinson has done this season Ecky?  I think he has done well considering he has had two different keepers behind him this season, had to bond a relationship with Karl and is joint leading scorer!
