Ban Setanta from the stadium. They offered us non league football but they are only interested in showing former league clubs. The presenters are rubbish. They obviously know nothing about the clubs.

To be fair without the former League clubs there would be no deal in the first place and, ironically, it is those former league clubs who don't want them there.

Deffo, I want to see Pete Hughes as the special guest to voice his opinions on non-league football.

Setanta deal
« Reply #18 on: September 06, 2007, 01:59:41 AM »

My understanding (from the recent fans forum in the NWS) is :-

That each club receives a substantial cash payment as part of the deal between the BSP and Setanta.
Each club will be on the box for a home and away game, with smaller payments made for these
That some clubs will get more coverage than others and hence more cash

The 'movement' of games and mucking about with the travel arrangements of fans etc is an unsavoury by-product of the TV deal.
Whilst I fully agree that the 'organising committee' at Setanta look somewhat amateurish and sometimes they completely disregard the views of the fans, this is what happens when TV is allowed to pick and choose games to suit viewing figures......... Commercialism takes over.

Seems to me that Alty have done ok out of this deal (remember - no money for BSN !). The old adage......."he who pays the piper, picks the tune" springs to mind

If you ask me it a bit ov a crap excuse they have used because SKY an ITV have rights to Champios League games not Setanta! There doing this becuae we are a Part time Team in A full time league

The champions league thing is ridiculous. Even I knew there was champions league games that week when they announced it because no bar in france would show setanta that night when champ league football was on. they already knew it was a champ league week why didnt setanta? Why couldnt the game be on monday or thursday? Just very poor planning, but as has been said, they pay the lump sums in order to do this.

As for the part-time thing penfold, I really think you need to forget that one. We're part-time and proud, not part-time with a chip on our shoulder!

I thought these fixtures were always provisional? Now I don't really know about the Setanta site, but the conference website always showed these games as being TBC.

Does anyone know when the Blue Square highlights programme is on Setanta and do they show goals from all games? I think I may still subscribe anyway as anything is better than nothing when you live abroad.

e-mail address is SupportUK@setanta.tv

my note reads as follows

Dear Sir,

I read on my club's website that you will not be showing Altricham vs Cambridge on the 18th of this month due to a clash with Champions League.  If this is true (your website still shows this game in schedules) I am extremely disappointed.  I had subscribed specifically for this game as an Alty fan living in the South of the country.

I am staggered that a supposedly professional organisation with ambitions to rival Sky in football and sports coverage were not able to predict that the Champions League matches would be taking place on the same night before now.  Even if there was an element of doubt about whether you would be covering a Tuesday or Wednesday night game, letting people know that the Alty vs Cambridge game was provisional would have been helpful - I would have delayed my subscription until it was comfirmed and I'm sure Cambridge would have appreciated the warning when planning their event at the club around your coverage.

The complete lack of consideration you have shown for the fans of these two clubs (and others you have treated in this way) does nothing to encourage non-league fans to support you.  Many fans are annoyed by the need to move games for TV coverage, in some cases games that are not being shown live have to move to give teams time to recover.  If this is the price we pay for decent TV coverage then we have to accept that but if we pay this price when it suits you and then you treat us with complete distain when you have a better offer then your involvement in our league will not go down well.

I would like to cancel my subscription please and I would also like my first month's fees returned as the event I signed up for will no longer be shown for reasons you were completely aware of when I signed up.  My user name is xxxxx

Not a good start to your involvement with the Blue Square Premier.

Highlights show is Friday at 6pm or 11:30 pm.  They show nearly all the goals but only from the one camara so FGR goals at the far end are very difficult to see - fortunately Joe scored at the end with the camara.  I think the fact they only have the one camara explains why the odd goal is missing.  The highlights consist of goals, penalty saves and red cards and nothing else.  Nothing clever like replays so blink and you've missed it.  The rest of the half hour is taken upwith adverts obviously and longer highlights from the live game of the week.

The only plus point is that the highlights show is available to watch anytime in the following week if you subscribe to the broadband version so you can at least watch our 20 seconds a few times!

All in all the York highlights kindly provided on U-Tube are much better!

Thank you that's a nice comment.

If you are interesting in seeing any more crap York defending, the majority of our home games, reserve games and FA Youth Cup games will appear on our new YouTube site:

Thanks for the info Bath Alty.....think I still may stump up the readies as the thought of even just being able to glimpse the beloved Alty is just too much to pass up.

Broadband?????? What's that? No such thing available in this far flung corner of the green Isle amongst the cattle. We're all too busy dialling for the duration around here........don't leave me hanging on the dial-up line.........

In the non league today paper Setanta are still advertising the game. I believe three things killed league football, television, silly wages and scrapping terraces. The non league game attracted people who played for the love of the game, but now the BSP is just division five under a different name.
