Altrincham FC First Team / Masha

Give up, someone will have to explain how to do the linky things to me! See the Daily Mail website and the story of a family of drug dealers in Spain. Masha best friends with one of them and got over 2 years for his involvement! Altrincham Town ffs!

Well that should weaken them a bit. I can't believe he's got a gig there as I expected him to go back to the glue league, which is probably more his standard.

I agree - I admire the way we look after players who have been injured in the line of duty, it's one of the reasons I am proud to be an Alty fan but we are not a soft touch and we need to stand up for ourselves when we have been conned

Sadly I think we are a soft touch and exactly why Griffith was able to walk away with a season's wages. I know people said the PFA got involved but I can't for the life in me believe that his case would have stood any chance in any court of law.

Agree with @wearealty that we should investigate to see if we can make a claim against him and if that fails we should sue Gordon Taylor and his cronies at the PFA.

Was a player I always hoped we would sign four or five years ago. As has already been said, let's hope Jim can get him performing like he did a few years back. If the result is anything like that seen with Hobson yesterday then we'll have a very good player on our hands.

Who do we want then? I quite fancy this Handsworth Parramore lot at home. They beat Burscough 2-0 today but we've just got to play someone with a name like that!

Great result but we certainly made hard work of it, hopefully will give the confidence a big lift though.

Fully agree about Greg Wilkinson, if we can accommodate him and James Lawrie in the same team we may have the first bit of creativity since Nicky Clee dropped out.

Crowd figure disappointing but always the same in cup games when a lot of season ticket holders won't pay to get in....bizarre!

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Is Bill Waterson our new Chairman?
« on: September 16, 2016, 10:50:58 PM »
Is this a case of 'damned if you do, damned if you don't'?  Maybe an attempt at some positive PR by the club, and giving a recent benefactor (who has been mentioned on here) a platform to speak on behalf of the club he has donated to?

Maybe it is but surely you find it odd that Bill has written this article for the programme and not the Chairman? If the club wanted a rallying call why not reprint, with his permission, Hughesy's passionate post on here from Wednesday morning?!!

I've just read the latest news on the website, Bill Waterson on moving forward. Surely these are the comments we should be reading from our Chairman not from the guy who didn't get a place on the Board, even after donating £10000 to the club.
I have been told tonight that he has indeed taken over as Chairman of the football club

That's interesting news but, if true, not reported again!

Been checking out our likely opposition for next season in the glue league - some tough looking games.

We will feel quite at home with some of those teams, like going back in time to the 60's and 70's!

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Injury list
« on: September 11, 2016, 01:01:34 PM »
I commented a few months ago, and got shouted down, that we can read about injuries, comings and goings etc at any Conference club in the country on our website, other than our own. This was never a criticism of John Laidlar as it's obvious he doesn't have the information to hand to report it....why is that? Other clubs release news information so why not us?

I'm beginning to believe the Chairman is running this club in a manner similar to that crazy fella in North Korea!

I wouldn't get rid altogether I'd put him in charge of the community side as he clearly knows nothing about football but is excellent at running things on a tight budget. Get someone in on the board that understands football asap because our club is in deep trouble. None of the board know a thing about football and that's scary for a club at this level. I can take losing heavily to Fylde but not Gloucester. Hand in the pocket time Mr Chairman or step aside

Didn't I suggest that last week?

Exactly what I said after watching a couple of pre-season friendlies when I concluded that an 18th finish at best....oh how I'd take that now.
Just hope Harvey can get some of these players out but if they're all on contract and won't walk then we are in trouble.

Had the pleasure of catching up with Mark last night during the interval at the illustrious Roy Harper's gig at Bridgewater Hall. He recognised me immediately and was as approachable and friendly as ever.

Unfortunately he's not been too good recently, hence the inactivity on the blog but he certainly enjoyed the gig last night and by the looks of things at the end, I think his wife and friends were organising for him to meet Roy, which I'm sure he will have loved.

I have to say the line in Roy's most famous song, When An Old Cricketer Leaves The Crease, "There'll be one mad dog and his master, pushing for four with the spin" felt even more poignant last night!

Sadly he was well aware of our poor start to the season!

Altrincham FC First Team / Should we copy Southport
« on: September 07, 2016, 11:08:22 PM »
I see on the website that Liam Watson has joined the Board at Southport as Operations Director, working with the manager in recruitment of players etc.

After everything that has been said over the last week or so, should we consider copying this and bring Graham Heathcote onto our Board in this role and enable Grahame Rowley to concentrate on the Community Sports Hall and that side of the club?

Obviously Jim Harvey would have to be happy with such an arrangement but I wonder if it would be a good idea in light of what's gone on over the last few weeks/months.

Thoughts?
