Aside from the fact he is still living off the first 3 months of the 15/16 season (also the last time he looked fully fit), I don’t think anyone has been too harsh on Tim personally have they? He certainly hasn’t been singled out personally compared some of the other dross we had in last season’s squad. That said, he didn't look out of place in a team that finished bottom of the Conf North either.
I think any concern/criticism stems more from the ridiculous decision to panic and put him on a TWO year deal last September. We had no manager in place at the time so who even made that decision?
It’s a decision that could well cost us next season. Can we afford two keepers on first team wages? Because the evidence of the past 18 months suggests that is what we will need with Deasy in the squad. Will the balance of the squad then suffer because we are having to disproportionately fund the goal keeping position? There is no room for sentiment in football and no room for passengers, and I’ve little doubt we will have already seen the last of Tim Deasy at the end of the season if it wasn’t for his contract. However, we are now stuck with him for next season so let’s just hope your confidence in his fitness isn’t misplaced.
