Altrincham FC First Team / restructure of the league

according to the main website it looks like the idea is off, bloody good job too as given our current predicament we could have found ourselves too low to ever recover

Altrincham FC First Team / Yesterday
« on: October 30, 2016, 07:15:07 AM »
Having collected my thoughts on yesterday (went out of stupidity and a lack of anything else to do) this is what I thought:-
Deasy -had a poor game, the second goal went straight through his hands, did slightly better in the second half.
Goodhall - either that was deliberate (very worrying) or a very poorly attempted tackle after being well beaten for pace.  Miles away from being good enough, I don't know why we are seeming to think he is the glue that works either in midfield or defence.
McWilliams - had an off day worked hard
New Defender - looked very good and organised
Hall - looked poor, poor marking
Pattison - yet again MoM for us full of energy
Moult - something has happened can't find a pass in front of him
Richman - as always full of running
Lawire - out wide on the left - did not do enough to influence the game - looked a luxury on a sloping pitch
Miller - good until put up front
Marsh - not fit

Reeves - so what has he done?  either he's got a knock or he's said or done something to piss harvey off (potentially he might feel he doesnt work enough without the ball)- looked sharp when he came on.

Worcester were very very poor and we were worse.

Harvey - why not try 442 and wing backs or one up front just isnt working.
On the basis of today we need a CB, two CM and a decent forward to compliment reeves, we also need a right winger (unusually given its only year 4 of this) if you play miller on the right

Very sad times

Can't understand why they have gambled on getting 1,700 season tickets.  It does seem a good deal but surely a season of good football in the conf north first before this, most will have been fed up with the relegation.  Given there new team and management could be a one season or bust model

Altrincham FC First Team / Next Season - part 1
« on: May 02, 2016, 08:02:07 AM »
I expect us to change our style of play from when we were last in the league, a little more direct and if we can get them wingers.
Leagues go up and down in difficulty but it looks as if next year will be tough.  In effect there are about 10 teams that would happily grace the bottom half of the national league and one or two with the resources to be top half.
This though is perhaps what is required, if we win the league or do well we should then be set up to perform mid table in the national the year after.  We got through the playoffs in a poor year and I think the team didn't strengthen enough, this season we got worse hence the relegation, we must learn to battle hard against similar teams and if we succeed it should give us a recipe for national mid table.

Altrincham FC First Team / Moving forward now
« on: April 13, 2016, 10:43:58 AM »
Now is a critical point in time we must either appoint a new manager in the next 2 weeks or confirm that Tolson is the manager.  Contracts will be being offered to existing players and the best of those not offered contracts elsewhere will become available.  Failure to act could saddle the club with the wrong squad for next season.
