Alty's Van Persie
« on: December 12, 2011, 04:01:06 PM »

After reading some of the coverage of Robin Van Persie's superb 33rd league goal of 2010, I wondered how our own version compared. And I realised that Damian Reeves has now scored a remarkable 30 league goals in this calendar year (plus two in cups). It's a tremendous record and one that, in a strange way, I don't think he gets enough credit for.
I imagine the likes of John Rogers and Jeff Johnson scored 30 league goals in a year several times in their Alty careers and I'd guess McKenna might have done it in 1991 but has anyone done it more recently? Little or Thornley maybe?

Here's hoping 2012 is every bit as profitable for him.

Agreed he doesn't seem to be getting much credit

I must admit I'm one of those who didn't realise he had scored so many in such a short time.

Full credit to Reevesey on such an excellent record.

Our best player last season and this season imo, twiss helps him get his goals, redshaw is a greedy striker, can they link up? hope it doesn't effect the team if not?

Reeves has scored in 10 of the last 11 league games.

Still not as legendary as Kenny's 10 in a row though!

I agree forums are supposed to be FUN not excercises in grammar. As for Reeves being Alty's Van Persie, he is a good striker and is doing his bit for the team, but a little wasted with the leak at the back which would be worse if it wasn't for Stu, another hero!
