An intriguing prospect. We certainly need to step up a gear from Sunday. I'd start Richman for Durrell on the simple basis that we absolutely have to consider the prospect of a penalty shootout, and Durrell would be essential to that.

Most our subs were card related initially (albeit the game was pretty much over on 70); Lundstrum and Hulme booked and subbed shortly after a card each.
But on your point; Richman replaced Lundstrum and Mahon replaced Durrell. Will Peers start? I wonder if Peers will be picked to counter McNulty as per the FA Cup?
-
Start 2 up front as McNulty will grab and hold Jordan out of the game (and probably get away with it like he has for years). Hope Densmore is back too. If all 11 turn up we win it in 90 for me but this will be the toughest game of the possible 3.
-
Glass half empty side of me is afraid of it being third time lucky for York. The glass half full side says that we've already won there twice and can do it again! If we can up our game from Sunday and stay organised we will do it. Got a sneaky feeling we're going to do it. With the skill and spirit of this squad, we've always got a shout.
Come on you Supers, we're all right behind you!
-
Very tough assignment but we’ve now played in 3 of these high stakes play off games in a little over 14 months and never lost any of them within 90 minutes, they might have an experienced squad but still a new experience for this York team so that combined with our superb recent record at York gives me confidence.
This one will be a bit like beating Nuneaton or Kettering back in 2005, a tall order but if we get through it then I’d be very confident for the final. Come on Alty.
-
Just the pressure was on us Saturday, the pressure shifts to them. Some poor Spring results meant they lost their PPG lead and then lost their twitter campaign to have two via PPG.
Another year well below their natural level would be a huge blow.

And what formation would you play?
Durrell should start on current form . I am impressed with Mooney but we do miss some pace out wide.
Same team but Dens for Hampson, we really missed him and he is a lot more solid than Hampson.

I think we look okay for pace; we latched on to a 1-on-1 Mooney and Durrell both went through thanks to some weighted balls.
-
Durrell absolutely has to start, simple as that - and Mooney too, he was our best player on Sunday.
The Peers v Hulme one is interesting; Peers has done well when called upon in our previous ties with them - but he did seem a bit off the pace on Sunday, always hard to judge when you're not getting much of the ball.
Densmore to come in for White, I'd probably keep Hampson as he had a good game on Sunday.
-
The consensus from York seems to be we were woeful on Sunday and nothing to worry about. I think the substitutions unsettled us but we had to make them to protect those on yellow cards and also I think we collectively took our foot off the gas at 3-0. It will
be a totally different game at York.

Peers seems to do better when he starts vs. coming on. And also when we're not just clearing our lines and asking him to hold it up.
I may be wrong, but has Dens actually trained recently? Sounds like he's sat out of the built up to shield

Were the underdogs against full timers, let them think what they like. I am sure we'll be up for this. Its hard for all after months not playing.
-
Densmore in at rb, White at LB and if Durrell and Hulme dont start someone will have to resuscitate me

I actually think our poor performance second half - and just about scraping over the line - was the best scenario. Let them think it's going to easy - I'm sure most of them know it won't be.

One big advantage we have is having played a competitive game. Could be a big help to us.
-

I agree fully. Home advantage means little with no fans in, in terms of being big match ready we do have that slight head start. The
£10 may win you a seat.
-
York Evs
Draw 5/2
Alty 11/5
-
11/5! That's a massive price
-
Full time v Part Time. They were first we were 5th and we lost the league game to them. I can't see the bookies doing much more research than that.
-
Make no bones about it, York will be strong favourites in the eyes of most, and will be well up for it after campaigning for it so hard.

They campaigned for two up without playoffs. Havants involvement made it a playoff campaign.
-
York will be favourites to beat both us and whoever they would play in the final if they did so. It's odd really, because their form at lockdown was inferior to all the other teams left in the play offs and they won't even have a home crowd to back them. Tbh, I fancy the winner of the other match to go up.

Yes but you could also say the 'reset' favours them more than any other club in that case - they started the season the fastest, and therefore could do the same over these two games.

Hulme putting that chance at 1-0 in the open game could have led to a very different start.
-
Thompson, White, Mullarkey, Hannigan, Hampson, Moult, Lundstram, Mahon, Hancock, Durrell, Hulme
Could truly be anything this game.
Pushed, I think we bow out on penalties.

I'd go same XI personally, Mooney should start in my opinion
-
Same XI for me too unless Dens is available. You want Durrell on the pitch at the end in case of pens but the lad is a match winner so he must start. I would say to PP that making so many changes on Sunday didn't exactly improve things so go easy on the subs.
-
D'oh, woke up early once again on a matchday, this time 0508am. However it is a big match, but I am entering no predictions as I fear giving the team the kiss of death. Just make us proud lads, that's all we ask.
-
Had to have a fiver on Alty 1-0 at 10/1, worth it at that price. Come on you Robins.
-
Good luck today boys!
We're all right behind you.
-
have covered my nails over for this one. ;D
-
6 minutes!!! :P
-
Into the final!!! Brilliant result! Well done to all..... ;D
-
Brilliant...congrates to everyone involved
-
great quote on York's twitter account..........
Altrincham have single highhandedly screwed your season up... FA Cup, FA Trophy now promotion playoffs...
-
Brilliant performance by the team. Roll on next weekend.
-
And breathe. Stress levels off the scale, well done to each and everyone, now for the big one. Rest, get ready and go again....
-
Best Management Duo Best team absolutely buzzing Come on Phil get your statue outside the ground and take us
Back to the National League One very happy Alty fan tonight.
-
Going to watch the other semi. Howay the Heed !
-
Buzzing after that win, great result against full time opposition. Superb from 1-11, and great defending. Toby coming into his own now, alongside Tom Hannigan.
-
Well done everyone, especially Dan Mooney.
I like York City, but we have won in the last ever FA Cup game at Bootham Crescent, the last ever FA Trophy game and, now, the final game of all played there.
-
Magnificent. As complete a performance from an Alty side as I’ve seen for a long time.
And camera angle aside, the TV coverage was great. So much better than last week... Guy Mowbray combined obvious professionalism with some heartfelt reflections on York's recent history. And Brian was simply brilliant.
-
Brilliant effort by all involved. Wow, one more game! if York are all full time then some of their players are cheating a living. Two or three were way overweight! That's being kind!
What a difference in the picture quality. Todays picture quality was excellent as were Alty!!!!!!!!!!!! SBL
-
I think that was our best performance of the season. Everyone was brilliant, I mean literally everyone. Roll on next week...
-
One more big effort next week! 😉
You can do it lads! We all believe in you and we'll all be there behind you!
Come on you Supers! 🏆🥇
-
Superb all over the pitch today, from Tony at the back to Jordan up front and all the subs. Great team effort, thoroughly deserved. Well done to PP, NS and all the lads.
If you were a neutral watching that I doubt you'd pick which team were the full time professionals. It could be that the game last week did us a favour in sharpening up more than York.
Brilliant! Same again next week please!

Bouncing!

Gateshead 1 up
-
Boston 1 gateshead 1 just before half time
-
2-1 Boston with two of the strangest penalty decisions ever
-

Strange doesn't begin to describe them ! It's deflated Gateshead who look demoralised. I wouldn't be worried at playing Boston, I don't think they're anything to write home about.
-
The whole team have done amazingly well yet again,.. I just hope the injuries arent too bad and they are fit for next week, whoever we end up playing.
-
Gateshead equalised from the penalty spot 2-2
-
Looking like we're going to Boston now 4-2
-
This pre-match prediction by a York City supporter on their fans forum did make me smile:
"2-0 to York. The day I’m scared of a part time outfit from a Tory market town, you can take me round back and put a bullet in my head. Into these lot, City!"

Is he dead yet? ;D ;D ;D

See our old friend Yemi Odubade scored the 95th minute winner for Weymouth. He must be in his (very) late thirties now, surely?

Not sure but I bet the poor bastard wishes he was.....
Part time and Proud. Yorkie boy. 🥂⚽️

Up the 'never-lose-at-York' Reds
Top performance (I'll wait till a proper camera for comments on the game)

Isn’t he a very good violinist....😛😋

Probably a better violinist than footballer! 😉
-
Grim watching on a tele rather than real life, f**k being a premier league fan. Tried to get nervous but in reality we were miles better than them and it was never in doubt. Moult controlled the show and our front 4 are electric.
We’re going Notts county instead
-
Harrogate more likely, thank goodness Portsmouth beat them! :) Maybe even Macc depending on how the fl farce ends! Whatever, ,take it. And if we miss out, not going up is not nearly so bad as it used to be, plenty of high profile games. I was thinking back to the first time we won the npl, and Workslop was our biggest game! And after them, a chllly Whitby with a slab of meat for a prize in the raffle and only giving results from other Yorkshire teams... a different world...
-
Massive performance from all players, but Hampson and Hulme were immense.
Lundstrom was my mom.
-
Very professional performance, hard to fault anyone. Onto Boston now, same mentality and performance and we'll do ok. Further travelling is a concern.
-
Great performance.....onto Boston with confidence. As others have said, FA cup run and play-off final....brilliant, just need to stop starting campaigns in first gear
York will be truly pi$$ed off, reckon they threw big money at promotion back last July
-
What a result and what a performance- we pretty much bossed the game, other than a 10 minute spell for York in the first half.
The result was a fair reflection of the match and if we had got one more, it would not have been unjust on York - who just didn't have the pace, skill or fitness to deal with us.
Pretty much everyone brought their best game to Bootham Crescent, but Mooney's pace, aggression and interplay was outstanding- best player swap we have ever done.
Away to Boston even with an empty ground if a very tough ask, but this team have the quality and resilience to do it.
Loving being an Alty fan these days, just gutted that these games are behind closed doors.
-
Ever since we conceded on 2 minutes at Chester in the FA Cup when we finally clicked, BPA aside, it's a brilliant season.
Well done Phil, Neil and the sqaud.

Do you mind?, we are still watching and wish both yourselves and Harrogate the best of luck in your finals!

Are there any highlights annywhere of our match? I see the Boston v Gateshead is already on youtube but l cant find ours.

Great to hear from you, and thanks for the good wishes. I'm sure I wasn't alone in rooting for you in your playoffs. Hopefully next season you can get automatic promotion.

As ever with the League highlights not really a representative package, missing out York's two best efforts and those of Lundstram and Mooney in the 2nd half.
-
Just reviewing the footage and one thing that may have gone under the radar a little was that the build up to Josh Hancocks goal included 15 passes amongst which was that pinpoint Jake Moult 60 yrd+ Hoddlesque pass. Would have looked better from a higher vantage point though.
-
I too hope that Portsmouth are soon back where they belong! I hope Harrogate get into the league as well, I just can't see it. I think most of us were glad to be going to Portsmouth in the cup rather than Harrogate though, a great away day. I had a good experience at Fratton Park once when we stayed in Portsmouth overnight. It turned out that someone who worked at the ground (this was preseason) had previously lived in Sale and sorted us out with some old Portsmouth programmes. It's little things like this that people really appreciate.

Jake played a similar pass to Jordan in the build-up to the winner in the cup match.

I seem to remember at the Atherton Collieries match preseason after one of our goals a substitute said "that was that long ball you were on about" and Phil Parkinson replying - "a perfectly weighted cross field pass". It looks like they perfected it. I also seem to remember a player who shall remain nameless asking Fozzy if he'd brought some sweets again...
-
Was brilliant to see Jake up to speed again after a poor showing by his standards against Chester.
When he plays well, we play well.
-
Just read Phil Parkinson's post match interview v York on the Alty website. He sang the praise of a few players but one that stood out for me was Connor our full back. What a quality full back. I may give Jose a call! SBL...................

Starting afresh. They'll do ok, but it's asking a lot from what could be a hugely changed squad.
Also delays on the new ground due to the pandemic.
