This Coming Sunday
« on: May 13, 2009, 06:38:55 PM »

As some of you may be aware my Mum died just before Christmas. She had been suffering from Pleural Mesothelioma, an asbestos related Cancer of the membrane surrounding the lung.

I promised when Mum was diagnosed, that I would do the Manchester Run in May to raise money for the MacMillan Nurses who were, from the initial diagnosis all the way through absolutely unbelievable offering support which continues to this day (May 13th 2009)
.
I was sort of hoping that she'd still be about to present the cheque after I'd finished the run but it wasn't to be.

However having made this promise I remained determined to raise this money and this week I was lucky enough to get a place in the 2009 Great Manchester Run.

I wonder whether you would consider sponsoring me for this?

Thanks for taking the time to read this

Regards

Phil

I'm  very very grateful to everyone who has been kind enough to sponsor me so far.

I''ll be equally grateful to anyone else who can maybe find a quid or two for a very good cause (IMHO) at

Phil,

I have given a tenner, good luck with the run for a worthy cause.

Its worth remembering that Phil's posts on here often drive me to despair  ;), he has given a lot of time to our football cub over the years and this is a cause that means a lot to him.

I hope that some of the people who were so generous to me will also put some of the little bit of cash they save with no football to this cause.

Its very easy on that site and you can pay be all major credit and debit cards as well as paypal.

Macmillan nurses do an incredible job.

Phil,

You may recollect that I have already added my name to your sponsorship form.

However, may I just take this opportunity to remind you of the proviso that I inserted in the small print regarding payment i.e. funds will only be handed over to you if you have run the race whilst wearing a yellow ostrich costume in the style of that master comedian, Bernie Clifton.

Good luck!

Phil,

Put me down for a tenner mate. Pay you if you want to pop round / or next Moss Lane day.
I knew your mum very well over many years and she was always bang on up to date with Alty news, a great lady, and its been a pleasure  to have known her.

Can I also encourage people to sponsor Phil, who knows that I would be totally lost without my own Macmillan Nurse and all the wonderful people at the Nightingale and Genesis Centre at Wythenshawe Hospital right now.

I'll be there to cheer you on Phil, it might do me good - who knows, I need cheering up right now
