Unfortunately, for my money, I thought there were very few home fans in attendance yesterday. The first half especially it looked quite sparse.

1200, could have been right. I think there was 400-450 York fans though. Bear in mind the weirdoes sectioned off a large part of it themselves and though the terrace was fullish they weren't packed tightly together.

Agreed the home support was very low yesterday , thought there was about 500-600 York there

Knowing the people who run the club, there is no way anything like that would be done.

The home support may have been a bit lower..its the 348 that I think is wrong.

I understand that some of the comments about numbers etc may have been a little tongue in cheek, but there is no way that the match secretary or company secretary would ever allow financial shenanigans to happen at this club.

Yes, there is scope to cheat the taxman in any business where 'cash' is used as a method of payment. It is tempting to make a few quid here and there, however this club is run properly and the transparent policies and integrity of the people running the club has helped at the last AGM.

Could you see them reinstating Crawley if they finished 4th from bottom ?

I wasn't being serious. Sorry if it was construed as anything other than innuendo.

I'm sure Alty FC and the taxman are best mates.

Big Col.........never meant to suggest you were 'having a dig', I suspected the comments were not entirely serious, but thought it was a good opportunity to make a point in relation to the subject of fiddling the books

Believe me I have spent many hours with Derek Wilshaw (club secretary) in the office and worked on committees with George Heslop (company secretary).

Derek would redo a page of figures if it was 5p out until it balanced and George would list every item down to the last biro on squared paper.  :)

I know you weren't being serious but even we wanted to, guys like that wouldn't ever allow it.

Mark

Those figures i posted were based on how much money we had taken in those 2 turnstiles. For your information there were another 2 turnstiles open at the away terrace end but i dont have the figures for those.

So basically Cliff...333 came through 2 of the turnstiles.

Presume one of the other 2 was a £2 gate and and one an adult gate.

Would have thought no more than 50 through the £2 gate (unless those biscuits with the flags tried their luck) but no reason why another 150-200 would not go though the other one especially at 2:55 whn I would imagine there was a queue.

I'm not looking to crucify anyone here, I just wanted people to go "crikey...1600 at Alty yesterday"..not "ha, only 1200 at Alty yesterday, York must have had 500"

Plus the fact Mark that I've you are seriously telling me that we only brought 348 fans to Alty yesterday then we have some serious talking to do about the collapse in our away support.

From being on the terrace however, there were more City fans there than last season when the figure was given as 450.

1210 Total -348 Chequers End = 862.

I believe that 862 is probably correct for the home support as it includes the York fans in the main stand & I am sure the fact that so many games were off locally added a few. We are also on a good, albeit short, run of form at present with supporter morale as high as it has been this season, therefore no real reason for a drop off in home support, particularly as York are attractive opposition (OK the weather wasn't great, but it was better than at the last two home games).

There is nobody at this Football Club who would allow an incorrect figure to be knowingly given but I would have very good money on there being at least 500 & probably 600 in the Chequers End.The only assumption I can make is that something has gone awry somewhere in the counting of the turnstiles.

862 + 600 = 1462.......That would be my best estimate of the true attendance.

if something went awry then the cash balance must be awry should it not.

Perhaps the former Vics chef has a new job as a turnstile operator?  ;D

From the main site:

RECOUNT
The attendance at Saturday's game at home to York City has been revised. A gate of 1,210 was originally announced. This has now been revised to 1,610 with 548 of those being in the away end.

Here endeth the conspiracy!
