On tha subject of Northwich: I remember having seen some members of the responsible staff watching the game just before half-time! (New year's Day) Hence the cold burgers, lukewarm griddle and the logical massive queue!  ???

Before my time but some of you must have visited Wigan. They have a reputation for the best pies in the world. Any opinions?

I once had a pie at Dagenham that was frozen in the middle. I nibbled it round the edges and left the rest under my seat in the stand. It's probably still there.

The chuck wagon at Tamworth is a delight, chips with curry sauce. Just a shame about virtually everyhing else at that hole. The Diamond burger at Rushden as well deserves a heads up.

Really? I have been for meals at both United and City, and the food at City was outstanding, the food at united is was average at best, and I can assure you I am not a city fan!  This also is the opinion of quite a few others who I have spoken to (from other occasions).

I didn't include them, so the best food I can remember is at Lancaster. I would say the worst was at Vics last year, but they didn't manage to provide any, and that was before half time! I think therefore, southport wins the worst.

Southport deserve a dishonourable mention for their piss poor burgers that cost £2 but more for the fact that a slice of processed cheese that costs about 7p from Aldi gets added to it and they try to charge you an extra 50p!  :o

I only use ground catering facilities occasionally but I remember Barrow had excellent meat and potatoe pies as did Frickley before they brought in a burger van. Northwich Vics at the Drill Field also had good meat and potatoe pies, I even get one now, occasionally when in the town, from the little shop that used to supply them. Best chips were at Merthyr Tydfil, that is until Keith Davey started doing chips at Moss Lane.

Kidderminster, if you get a sheperds pie before they sell out, the cheese version last year wasnt quite as good.

Best and Worst...... Canal Street Runcorn late 60s early 70s - Meat Pies to die for....... hot peppery grey wet greasy grey stuff swamped in flowing joiuce that had to be drained out onto the terrace before chomping it down! Probably worst for appearance, but fantastic taste.

once upon a time the meat and potato pies sold at moss lane made by baileys bakers in broadheath were the best around.

a couple of years ago i went to bolton to watch west ham. i know its no big deal if you live in the north, but bolton sold hollands pies and west ham fans were having one and joining the queue again for more. you just cant get a decent pie in the south

A quite brilliant description........it was virtually impossible to eat one without getting covered in that juice. They were the most unappetising, but brilliant, pies ever!!

Also Runcorn served drinks in China mugs until at least the mid seventies!

God Bless Canal Street!
