Eastbourne - Saturday
« on: February 04, 2009, 06:49:32 PM »

Hello Northern B*stards  ;D

Southern Softy here !!

Im coming up on Saturday. Just wondering on what the chances are on the game being on ? As i see you are meant to have snow 3 days in a row.

If it is on... Will it be segregated  ? I would only think we will bring around 30-40 with us.

Also is the food good in the gorund (price and taste wise) ?

Cheers
Cya Sat !!  ;D

Game should be on no problems, we dont get much snow in Altrincham to be honest.

Segregated it probably will be, but if only 30 they may let you walk round.

Food is good in side the ground.

Beer available in our club before the game but you can only access it from outside the ground so if you plan on drinking there dont enter the ground first.

Hope you have a pleasant first visit to Moss Lane. Don't forget you are welcome in our bar before and after the game, if your travel arrangements allow for it.

However, I don't believe any away fans should be allowed to walk round to the home end in all honesty, no matter how pleasant they are (which this Eastbourne fan certainly is, to be fair). I hate nothing more than seeing away fans singing and making noise in our end, and in addition to this it will mean we lose about 20 singers when they decide to stand on the away terrace.

I always take the oppurtunity to stand on there if I can...

My understanding is that segregation is to be in place for all games, however at the discretion of the chief steward, if under 100* visitors attend and there seems no likelihood of problems that the segregation can be removed after the turnstiles close.

* I think, could be less.

The advantage for away fans is access to a dry covered area, and possibly the bar at half time. I agree though that this encourages some of our fans to spread out even more around the ground with a consequent reduction in atmosphere.

Food is ok, standard football ground fare, the bar is friendly and welcoming but no real ale if that's your bag, so choose accordingly but we'd love to take your cash in there! King George about 100m from the away end serves JW Lees. Good chippy over the road from the ground on a small shopping parade too. Town centre about 8-10 mins walk down Moss Lane if you're early and want to explore a bit more.

Zimmer frames are not allowed in, but there is a rack outside to lock them to.

Imagine being so poor you had to have portable loos in the away end, imagine that.
