My understanding is that segregation is to be in place for all games, however at the discretion of the chief steward, if under 100* visitors attend and there seems no likelihood of problems that the segregation can be removed after the turnstiles close.
* I think, could be less.
The advantage for away fans is access to a dry covered area, and possibly the bar at half time. I agree though that this encourages some of our fans to spread out even more around the ground with a consequent reduction in atmosphere.
Food is ok, standard football ground fare, the bar is friendly and welcoming but no real ale if that's your bag, so choose accordingly but we'd love to take your cash in there! King George about 100m from the away end serves JW Lees. Good chippy over the road from the ground on a small shopping parade too. Town centre about 8-10 mins walk down Moss Lane if you're early and want to explore a bit more.
Zimmer frames are not allowed in, but there is a rack outside to lock them to.
