They were no mugs great result well done fought hard for that 3 points
-
For a referee that got most things right his readiness to flash the cards made him look an idiot in the end. Sean Williams was definitely tripped. You could hear the contact.
-
Am I right in saying we can't appeal it due to it being a second yellow?
-
Great result (getting closer to the playoffs ;D) If we keep this up we can compete in this league!
Shame about the absolutely pathetic refereeing. I honestly feel like complaining to the FA! (not that it would do anything)
-
The ref kept up his reputation, fully expected a red card today , sureley the fa should be able to see he is card happy and demote him , eight yellow cards in a game that was never that dirty , any how rant over well done alty , who would believe it 5 points from playoffs .
-
The Ref should not overshadow what was another fine team performance against a decent Torquay outfit.
We should all be looking up and not down now. This team can play football against anyone in our division and our style of football will draw more fans in. I don't think we've looked this comfortable at the national level since the mid 90s and hopefully we will continue to grow. Hats off to Lee Sinnott.
-
i was very nervous about our tactics second half. clearly aimed to be a bit more direct which forced the goal, but sat back too much when they scored. they had the chances to win the game, their lack of ability to take them sums up their recent form.
-
I do honestly believe we are in now in the play off hunt. I never thought that a month ago.
Yes it will be hard, yes we are outsiders for a play off spot, but it is distinctly possible and being only 5 points away is shamazing.

Says it all really :)
-
Fine display quality and hardworking in control apart from last 5 minutes with 10 men top effort
-
Not getting ahead of myself because there are a lot of teams between us and the play offs that have a few games in hand. Cracking form at the moment though and we're a fun team to watch. I'm really, really enjoying this season. Bring on Bath!
-
Would echo all the other comments, good battling performance. Hate to pick out individuals ...but Densmore, Marshall and Reevesy outstanding. Joke of a sending off, could clearly see the trip and he even tried to stay on his feet until gravity took over.
Just hope they can keep this going in the Trophy next week.
-
Just looked at the next run of games - ouch.
-
I wouldn't worry about the run of games because are record against the better sides is excellent still think trophy is better bet as us and Dover on form are the best teams left in it just add I hope cav is fit Saturday because the 3 in midfield or you may say 5 rather than 4 4 2 is the main reason for the improvement

I agree Jimmy, in all honesty though, once we get to 50pts (assuming we will), anything more is a bonus, including a continued cup run.

Nonsense.
-
Great result............some lovely passing football during the game, particularly during the first 20 minutes of the second half.
Last time we were in the Conference National, this would have been a game I would not be looking forward to and would be fully expecting to get thumped.
Outrageous booking for Sean Williams.
-
Never a dive that. Another proper good result. I thought they were half decent.

troll, get back under bridge :-)

We're starting to bit reasonable teams now rather than ones just having a bad day and/or underestimating us I think.
I would play Aldershot tonight if we could.

This was just posted on the Torquay forum by one of their fans who went today,..
We weren't bullied by a stereotypical run-of-the-mill non-league side full of big and ugly bruisers.
In fact, they had quite a few small players.
We were simply outplayed by a part-time team who played some neat football on the deck and showed more heart and desire.
Brings joy to me heart to hear opponents saying things like this.
Well done Lee and the team.
-
no, pretty sure we can't appeal, and lee confirmed afterwards that sean will miss bath next week. not only was it an unjust booking, the ref didn't even realise it was sean's second. he produced a yellow card and simply waved sean away, until torquay's players surrounded him and pointed out he'd already been booked. he checked his list of names, then belatedly produced a red and pointed sean to the changing room. unbelievable.
-
will cav be available for Bath to replace him?
-
yes, lee said he expects cav to be fit for next saturday.
-
Just looked at the next run of games - ouch.
Somebody should start a thread on this subject :)
-
I wouldnt worry jenga it's not like you'll be there, i thought the referee had a good game apart from the second williams yellow.
Great result yesterday against a good team, play offs here we come.
COME ON ALTY
-
Great result keep winning we still have to play most of the teams above us there's a lot of games between now and the end of April and a lot can happen. What ever happens we have done great, fantastic results against the likes of Bristol, Grimsby and Torquay all of which are bigger clubs than us.
-
The result was nothing less than we deserved.
Some outstanding football was played and never looked like anything other than 3 points until they scored.
Must say fair play to LS for our recent results. I doubted his ability to keep us up with the squad he kept this season but I was wrong. Barring the Blyth nightmare and a handful of league games, we have looked very impressive.
While I'm eating humble pie special mention to Adam Griffin. I thought he would be real weak link at Lb, but he's been my player of season.
I used to fear for us when a team of giants walked out against us, but now I rub my hands.
Well done to all concerned.
On to Bath and lets get to Wembley.
-
I have to echo the views expressed by robinstockport above.
Well done to all concerned we are a pleasure to watch at the moment.
Whilst I am on I would also like to congratulate everyone connected with the community hall.
I didn't have strong feelings about it either way until I spent some time in it yesterday.
Thoroughly enjoyed it. I thought the atmosphere was excellent, warm and friendly and a lovely mix of young and not so young , male and female and home and away fans.
-
I'm happy to add my thanks to management and players for giving us such enternaining football to watch and for getting the results we desrve. It's great to see Adam Griffin coming good but particularly Tom Marshall too.
-
I was never worried about griffin but I was worried about a few others who have proved me wrong

Aggborough Cottage variety?
-
I am not sure anyone is proving anyone wrong, the players (and management) now performing to the level we knew they could - so they proving us right!
That is why there was so much annoy after Blyth and other disasters - we knew they could do this
-
I was helping Brian out with the Twitter commentary at the top of the main stand on Saturday; interestingly I was sat next to a scout from Hemel Hempstead taking a look at Torquay for their Trophy game next Saturday.
Although he echoed what we already know, he was astounded by our willingness to play it on the deck, and in particular how our 3 CM's were running rings round their 2 terribly immobile CM's, which he saw as their most obvious weakness. He described the quick ball Marshall fired into Damian for the second goal the 'best he's seen for a long time'. As a Watford fan, he described LS as a 'bit of a legend round his neck of the woods'.
Will be interesting to see how Hemel get on; understandably he fancies their chances.
-
As depressing and awful as the day at Blyth was the response to it by the players and management has been fantastic and that's all that could've been asked of them in that situation.
Rightly the team were berated and criticised from top to bottom after Byth and now, rightly they're being praised in the same way.
Personally that defeat at Byth now seems a very long time ago and is starting to become less and less hurtful given recent results.
Keep it up!!

I think that's it in a nutshell. Those performances away at both Grimsby and Lincoln before the Blyth nonsense showed this team are very capable of grinding out results in difficult circumstances without playing the excellent football that is plainly Lee Sinnott's hallmark. The results at Kidderminster and Eastleigh underline this and that both came after Nuneaton, means I think we can file that under 'bad day at the office' as opposed to 'didn't fancy it'. We all thought Barwell had laid the Trafford ghost, but along came Blyth. Come on Alty let's get at Bath from the off, no sheepishness but no laziness either - we're the form team in the Conference at the moment - go out and show it on Saturday.
-
You can only take one game at a time, but with our form as it is, we have a real chance of trophy progression, let's get bath beaten on Saturday, we know are capable.
-
See you bright and early Saturday figgy
-
Has the boy Taylor arranged the travel, I've been away
-
Yes
-
Astounding that it's cheaper to get to bath going via a foreign country than going direct, Thatchers Britain
