Has The Chairman Responded?
« on: March 27, 2017, 08:18:31 AM »

Sometimes with all the vitriol flying around, we can be in danger of taking our eye of More pertinent issues.

Put very simply

1) Has the Chairman or anybody at the club revealed who locked out the volunteers and created Twittergate? And why?

2) Have the volunteers been contacted by the club at all?

3) Has there been any response from the Chairman to the letter that was sent outlining the proposals made by the group of supporters and previously published on this site.

Clearly any Chairman that values supporters in general and volunteers in particular would not be as hypocritical, as dismissive or as plainly bad mannered not to make any responses to the above. Would he??

1) The events haven't been touched upon in any sort of club statement and I highly doubt they will, it seems fairly obvious that the club are going to ride this one out. That being said, me and Jack are well aware of who made the decision and who executed the change of password.

2) I can't speak for Jack and the contact he's received but I only received replies to my 'resignation' from Brian and Bill. I've been meaning to phone Brian actually but I've been busy, so if you're reading, bare with me! At no point has the Chairman felt it necessary to get in contact with me.

3) I don't believe he has replied.

Fabio
Thank you for your factual answer which I fully appreciate goes as far as you are able in explaining the situation.

Clearly it would be totally irresponsible and inappropriate to deal in rumours on such a sensitive issue and I will and I suggest everyone else only deals in FACTS when commenting.

I don't believe that he will make any response on Twittergate. This is because he has no understanding of the damage caused. Within a few weeks of promising more openness and transparency, he has presided over a piece of crass censorship which has alienated more supporters than he can begin to imagine.

I've already stated that unless he either justifies the actions taken (which I feel isn't possible), or makes a quite grovelling apology  (which I think he's too proud to do), or falls on his sword (which he's too stubborn to do), I'll be washing my hands of this club.

I'm surprised that I have found the decision comparatively easy to take after 61 years of supporting the club. And I'm pretty sure I'm not alone in deciding to walk away, although many will do so for other reasons. And God knows there are plenty to choose from.

I honestly believe that our slide has become irreversible and we'll be playing at home to Coalville and their 5 travelling supporters in front of 300 people soon after Christmas.

I know I'm a pessimist....my glass has always been three quarters empty and leaking. But what has happened at this club in the last 12 months leads to only one conclusion.

I'll be saying goodbye to those of you that I know at the Alfreton game.

Hi Romeo ( Phil)

We have known each other for a long time, although have not met for over half a century but I know your sincerity and totally understand that things must have really reached a low point for a TRUE supporter like you to walk away from Altrincham FC after 61 years of supporting.

I find that shocking and I also find it shocking that the Club and by that I mean anyone in an official capacity, will in all likelihood not care or not do anything to try to dissuade you or others that probably feel exactly the same.

Altrincham FC ,when I knew it more directly, was always proud to be a family club that had a close bond with the supporters and the community. This mantra seems to be being entirely ditched under the present regime, unless I am missing something.

I find it heart breaking that you and others like the Twitter volunteers are being apparently treated in such a cavalier manner and in a way that makes a mockery of ideals related to community spirit or even having an open communication with the very people who should be the most important element of the club......namely the supporters.

Have the Chairman and the Board forgotten that or am I really missing some important element of their motivations and actions?

I admit to being some distance away and I have tried very hard to get answers to questions, so that I better understand what on the face of it is a bizarre and tragic situation. However openness and transparency seems in short supply.....not helped by the Club communication which does not comment on major issues such as Twittergate and also being fair, by certain people on this site whose major contribution appears to be offensive.

I do hope you change your mind Phil, as if TRUE supporters like you are turning your back then the Football Club will shrink and become a personal barony for the people that are attempting to run its affairs ......or have we already reached that point.

All very, very sad for everyone that has the interests of the football club at heart.

with all my best

Knowing Romeo as well as I do(he's my Dad) he won't change his mind. It's where I get my stubbornness from!

Just 29 eh....

If we add up the number of supporting years that are staying away it would be counted in multiples of hundreds.

When will this madness end?

It's bizarre it's not the money based madness of a Maunders but a rogue member of the flock.

Communication received has been zero.

I spoke to the person removing us, under the orders of Grahame, who is not a member of the communications team at Altrincham Football Club on the evening of the incident. He was as stubborn on the issue, and said it was about accountability. (Let's not turn that into the new thriving eh folks.)

I called Brian twice - both of the weekend of the incident to discuss what happened.

I arranged a call with Bill Waterson, however the conversation was off the record and more of a fan to to fan chat than official communication on behalf of the club. I don't see that as an issue as It was probably a more beneficial.

Grahame Has my personal email, my work email and my personal email. He could have even passed a message via Brian Flynn or Bill should he wish.

He has cost the club money with this because the Twitter and other social media accounts were going to add some decent revenue to make up shortfall in gate money.

the social media of the club was going to do this through attracting non traditional sponsorship and by commercialising two need social media platforms to make our communication easier and more accessible.

I posted last week that it was far from the 29 people. I know personally of at least 25 folk who won't go back.

The issue for the Chairman is that by the time it becomes clear how many people are staying away, his heels will be too far dug in to rectify it.

I think the numbers there next year will be a massive shock for all at the club.
