Yes all agreed, far too attacking should have had 5 in mid not 2 up with lawrie another attacking mid. Have to think if we had have played on the counter he would have got trashed for not having ambition at home.
-
Actions speak louder than words and NY has done taken responsibility for that cock-up. and now its time for remedial action. A clean sheet, a strong performance and a win an Saturday is what I want to see.
-
Beat Gainsborough and curzon then we'll be on speaking terms..,
-
But is he taking responsibility? Yes, he says he got the formation wrong, but then blasts the players for lack of effort, wrong attitude etc. Everyone could see the formation was wrong at 2-0, let alone 4-0 after 20 mins. He should have made the change in the first half. The fact he didn't make a sub until into the 2nd half is disgraceful.

Players are also meant to take and accept responsibility for their own performances. Sometimes players can have an off day but the sum of the tesm get them through it. The other night, from the bits I listened to, there was lrecious little of that.
Right, now it is time for Gainsborough and the opportunity to start putting that dross behind us.

I think the FA should give us special dispensation to field all our subs in addition to the 11 that start the match. This could be under a new rule formulated under the heading "Challenges, Remedies, Average Players" , or C,R,A,P for short. This would allow Dawber and Preston to be in goal at the same time, and relieve the manager from any selection worries about which talentless individual he would replace - they could all be on the field at the same time.
Joking apart, I don't believe the errors were made in formation, effort or substitutions - we simply have very few players capable of doing a job for us in this league.
-
I think we'd have a top five team with not too many changes.

Defo 3 if everyone is fit we are about 4 players off being a good side
-
He also states that the team were fatigued. Jaysus wept, it's only the fourth feckin game of the season. If they're fatigued now, how the hell are they even going to be able to walk on the pitch come April.
-
Yes I scratched my head at 'fatigued'. 'Leggy' might have been a better description

The word that came to my mind was "clueless". I'm hoping it was a one off.

I'd say 5 players off...
Goalkeeper
Left Back
Right Wing
Left Wing
Forward

That'd be an excellent team. We didn't even have two winger when we got promoted last time!

I'd make that 6 as we need another centre back to challenge/provide cover for Cyrus and Hannigan. Sam Heathcote needs to go out on loan to an Evo Stick team to toughen him up for this league.
-
Sam helped to steady the ship on Tuesday during the second half
-
The fact that Fylde took it easy in the second half plus us playing 10 at the back had a greater bearing on steadying the ship than anything Sam did. He was just as much a "rabbit in the headlights" as everybody else.

I think sending any players out on loan to a lower league is utterly pointless.
The standard of the league even one below will be markedly worse than conf north. If players need time elsewhere they aren't good enough. By all accounts Sam is so just play him in the side, he'll toughen up soon enough, he'll get used to playing with the new players too and some cohesion will avoid any more capitulations like Fylde.
Leaving him out of the squad for two games out of every three certainly won't help.
We aren't going up this season more than likely but we wont go down either we might as well work on trying to gel these lads together and get rid of anyone we know we can replace with better.
One things for sure, with our current squad size if we still need six players then we must at least 4 that can go!

To be honest I also think sending players out on loan, as Young has said, is a waste of time as some of these players are just not going to get any better but as Heathcote is here for awhile (maybe forever) we may as well. It worked sending Watmore out to Clitheroe.
"....at least 4 that can go!"....yes in my book make that 10.

The thing is half these lads have already impressed at Clitheroe, I expect heathcote would do the same. He might get knocked about a bit in the process. The problem is they will come back, heathcote included, and get their pants pulled down and knocked about by Salford City or FCUM or whoever we are facing with a playing budget higher than we had last season and quality to match.
