Reeves would command a fee in January, I'm fairly certain he'd be on a contract. Nobody would pay money for him in Jan when there would be a better chance of getting him in the summer.

The point I guess is that you can't have a two year plan unless you hand out two year contracts.

And the last one handed out turned out ever so well...

nail on the head. Although we've been burnt by it before (Thomson, Bowler)  I do wonder where we'd be if we'd extended the contracts of Senior, Smith, Young before that good season was up. Obviously the players would've had to agree to it but did we even try?

anyone who wasn't aware that twiss was signed on a two year contract will be fascinated by ats' response.
when Lee came in I was interested to see wether he pulled off the masterstroke of moving him on or turned him into a world beater....while it's true Michaels attitude has improved and some of his assists have been quality, I think if lee could loan him out / move him on in the transfer window or maybe even now to a club in the lower leagues who are not stuck with a transfer windowwith an ego chairman with ideas bigger than his brain then there are options to sticking your hands in your pockets or paying his contract up.....

I repeat this is not a go at michael twiss.....just think we need a different sort of player(s) that we could get for the money he is currently getting......

He has improved but it's from a low level, 4 goals in 20 appearances?? Is that really good enough? I would suspect that Twiss may move on later in the season when it becomes apparent that he won't (surely) be offered another deal here and will need to go and impress someone for next year (Chester?)

4 goals in 32 appearances on wiki!!! Is that the worst non league goals per game ratio? Can't be far off, have we ever put a worse player on a 2 year contract? I doubt that

8 goals for Alty in 38 starts - an order of magnitude better than Gary Hulme!

Not much better than 5 goals in 33 starts that...

With Twiss its the Emile Heskey argument again. Doesn't look as if he does much but so many managers see much more than we do.

I replied to the 8 in 38 vs 5 in 33 - but the message got timed out as I embarked up a nostalgia trip that was much more interesting...

But to summarise:

Twiss 0.21 goals per start
compares with about 0.11 goals per game for Densmore and Clee; and 0.67 for both Reeves and Redshaw (phenominal for Reeves in >50 starts)

In recent years:

Little 0.47
Thornley 0.43
Senior 0.37
Dale Johnson 0.18
McAliskey 0.13

The Legends! (and just the mention of their names brings back so many memories):

Jackie Swindells 0.84
Graham Bennett 0.57
Johnny Worth 0.57
John Hughes 0.56
Ken McKenna 0.55
Johnny Rogers 0.48
Andy Green 0.44
Mick Moore 0.44
Tony Broadhead 0.34

We were once great and will be great again!

Ballers,

I wonder who on earth you can be referring to there...?

Williams is a major problem he was propped up by Young end of last season. As Ginrail said last week Telford don't seem to want him back, WHY?

Sheesh, there's a few that have got it in for Williams. I don't think he's great but give the lad a break.

So Reeves' ratio lies between Sir Jackie Swindells and Graham Bennett

Exalted company indeed.
