They had two sent off last Saturday & have no midweek game, so will have to make changes to their last starting XI. The pessimist in me sees Cheltenham 1979 repeating itself (only those with long memories need work that one out!) but the optimist says we will want to bounce back from Sunday & won't lack motivation. Hope my optimistic side is justified this time ...

I wish you hadn't reinvoked that particular memory Mike ! My optimistic side is fully activated though.

At that level aren't the bookings and red cards done via carrier pigeon meaning they will be suspended, but not until after Saturday's fixture has taken place?

I don't want to discuss Sunday, other than to say the players were all magnificent and didn't deserve to come home defeated. If we can take half that application in to the FA Trophy, we can go far. I'm still absolutely grief stricken about Sunday, and will be for a long time. But we were never going to win the FA Cup, but we can win the FA Trophy. We've seen performances so far this season to back that up. So dust ourselves and go again. The publicity and adulation can become addictive, so let's see what a trip to Wembley after 30 years brings

Good points - checked FA website which says that at that level suspensions begin on the 14th day after the relevant offence. I sit corrected! The Trophy represents a realistic target, so let's go for it.

I said it on a thread a few months back but I still feel gutted about that loss at Bath. What a chance we had last season.

Well said Capitano we also have a good chance most years as the bigger clubs don't always take it serious

My only worry is that I'm not sure we have a big enough squad to deal with going far in the Trophy and not getting relegated.

I don't think it's one or the other. If we have a clean bill of health enough (i.e. Dens, Luca, not injured, Clee, Crowther fully fit, no further long term injuries) so that we get to the semi finals of the trophy then we'll stay up easily.

Just looked out of the window - the pig is flying across the sky in the general direction of the Pennines ... Sorry, but I just don't believe that Clee will ever again be 'fully fit' in the sense you mean; Densmore & Havern need to be handled with care - injuries once they've started to recur will do so more easily; Crowther I would have thought is as much a question of confidence as of fitness. If we were to have a sufficiently fit squad apart from Coburn & Marshall it would be difficult to recruit & retain experienced players to do little more than warm the bench, so the present policy of using youngsters would be justified. First priority has to be the League, but the fixture date for the next round of the Trophy is blank & we have no games outstanding, so let's get past the Brakes & take it from there.

Jim this league is poor we have had key players out and still not in the bottom 4.Dens and Luca back soon

Add to that the fact we appear to have a match-fit Michael Rankine again, and the performances of Josh O'Keefe have vastly improved. All things considered, there's reason to be quietly confident going into the second half of the season.
