Grays Athletic - Saturday
« on: November 22, 2006, 01:30:27 PM »

I've just had a call from the Safety Officer at Grays with the following information;

The match is segregated with Away Supporters Access via Bradbourne Road. Alty fans will be accommodated on an open tiered terrace although there is a small area which is covered. Access to a seated area may be possible for the elderly / disabled at the discretion of the Club.

There will be no access to the Grays Social Club before the match. Supporters are recommended to use the Bricklayers Arms which is on the same road as the Ground.

I hope this info is useful. If I hear anything else I will post accordingly

Any idea what the thinking is behind this? Alty fans were looking forward to mixing and offering friendly words of thanks prior to Saturday's game and now this won't be possible. Last season we were in their bar prior to the game and the atmosphere was really friendly. It's not as if we're taking 500 meatheads down there is it?

Sorry, not a clue.

All he said was that our match there last season was the last un-segregated match and that since then Every match has been and will continue to be segregated. This is apparently the policy and non-negotiable  ??? ??? ???

Well it's a shame but rules are rules.

Nothing to do with the pitch invasion resulting from Kieran's equaliser at five minutes to eleven. (this is not a serious question by the way)

What a great shame-local authority I assume. Was it really 10:55?I thought it 10:30 latest, that pitch invasion was only about 5 people too ; :)

what a crazy & ridiculous decision......it's when I hear things like this that make we to be watching lower level football again. Much needed money will not be going in the tills of the club bar - all because of a stupid segregation decision.

As someone has said, it's not like you'll be bringing people looking for trouble. Oh well - in 'The Brick' it is then....

There would not be a club less likely to cause trouble to be honest. We don't have 'lads' and are all very grateful to Grays for the support shown last year

We might not have lads but we do have the "Thorleys" who are infamous porn and air-horn dealers. Segregation could possibly save the NHS thousands in bandages for badly tickled chins!

There will be plenty of the lads in the bricklayers to have a chat with.

I remember standing with some of you lot for a bit in the second half at your place last season.  Lovely people- you were calling Ashley Bayes a gay boy if i remember rightly?  ;)

Its a shame your not allowed in our bar before the game- they could do with the custom and you seem a friendly bunch.  But i suppose the safety officer has to do his job.  i think your all allowed in there afterwards- hopefully you can make it in for a few after the game.

Good luck...and dont be too upset when we kick your arses!  ;)

That's not very friendly behaviour for the club bar is it?

You SURELY don't mean on the field I take it?   ;)
