Altrincham FC First Team / Re: National League changes
« on: May 01, 2024, 07:56:47 PM »
I suppose there are better chances of big crowds over easter, for those it is a local derby it will be good overall. I just hope there is an element of locality to the christmas games now.

The more subs thing is just common sense. Less danger of a late injury reducing a team to 10 men and also avoids rotating starting lineups when you know you can throw on a decent number of replacements.

Overall I don't think either of these changes are quite on the replays debacle levels of fan & club sh*thousery.

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Tyrese Sinclair

On another note, that other Sinclair from the 90's Prem era has a son at Curzon Ashton - Isaac - who is only 22 and seems to hold some promise.
Trevor I'm assuming. Can he do this too? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MomkYgXPudw

When CCC goes, we should bring Tyrese in. Newby moves inside and Tyrese/Cranky take the left with Mooney/Justin on the right. Still a pretty bulletproof attacking line that.

Regan is capable of playing higher, and he will. But I think it should be with us.

Lundstram can rot in OL1 he jumped ship because he thought the grass was greener when it turned out the only thing green was him behind his ears. Imagine thinking you were going to the league winners and getting that negative fanbase tearing you apart after two games.

Ali Smith is actually the player we need, but there is no chance he's a NL level player any more. Same for Joel Senior. Way too good for this level without paying them too much.

Honestly, the level of scouting and player discovery we do as a club means we also don't need to worry about bringing back old boys and be confident in the names PP brings through the door.

it was anounced some time last year that from 2024/2025 season two would get auto promotion to league and a third via the play offs.here is a link but it does not say its been accepted yet,but i did hear somewhere that it has been agreed.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-11569911/EFL-ready-offer-National-League-promotion-place-footballs-financial-reforms.html

If this was the result of the NL Board bending over and asking how deep with regards to cup replays, I can honestly accept that. Oh and that god forsaken u21 comp they suggested.

I don't think it happens this close season though.

Back to the result yesterday... Our team are heroes, the result was wank and we're at least capable of going again even without CCC.

Always wanted to see us win the Trophy as well tbf.

Weird bounce. We deal with that we are golden.

Solihull at Wembley should be our dream outcome.

Let's get tomorrow done.

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Squad size
« on: April 26, 2024, 02:48:14 PM »
A few retained players have been told to find other clubs. Including the captain being told, to find a new club, or stay. He just won't be the captain next year.

Of the out of contract players, a few have been sent to test the market with a low ball offer waiting for them I guess.

I believe from what their fans are saying there ain't gonna be more than 5/6 of the current squad still around come the new season.

Anybody else got PMT already?
I'm trying to convince myself this is a free hit and no matter what happens we've had a great season win or lose.
Who am I kidding?  Noone least of all myself. 😁😁😁
Yeah, if this next two weeks go any way other than the dream ending I'm going to cope with this as well.

Until then, we're the best team in the competition and should fear no one. I just want the game to be here so we can win it.

are plastic pitches allowed in div4?

No

Harrogate were the most recent team to tear up a plastic pitch to ensure promotion.

Let's hope we're still saying that next season.

Altrincham FC First Team / FA Cup Rule Changes
« on: April 18, 2024, 11:37:45 AM »
No more replays, all rounds on the weekends, final pushed in to the season rather then being the domestic curtain closer.

Who was in charge of these changes? Were they paid by the Premier League to ruin the competition for good?

I'm not sure if that total and utter devious fella Peake is in the picture nowadays. Pity.
They got rid of him in 2012 a few years after Dale Vince turned up.

He still claims "Advisor to National League" on his socials. Snake of a man.

All the more reason to pass them in the other direction this season  ;D
Yes, but also stying down now means we get to give them a thorough spanking next season as we win the league.
