After much deliberation I'd go with 4-4-2
Thompson
Disney Moult Harrison Short
Johnson Taylor Richman Peers
Poole Hulme
We could quite easily go 4-3-3 or even 3-4-3.
Matlock 0-2 Alty (Peers and Poole)
-
Lynch alongside Harrison, Moult in midfield, Peers forward rather than Hulme and we're somewhere near.

Agreed with Taylor and Hulme on the bench. Although I've not been too impressed so far I'd give Hancock another go on the left with Peers up front.

Thompson
Disney Harrison Moult Short
Johnjohn Richman Taylor Hancock
Poole Peers
Would play Peers at 10 and Poole at 9 so we have some pace through the middle as well as on the wings. Give Hancock another run as he looked at threat at times vs Stafford. Not much in it for RB.
Subs: Lynch, Densmore, Harrop, Hulme, Omotola.

Matlock aren't going to be pushovers; since last season they've signed Shaun Harrad who is still only 32 and will score plenty at this level.

Surely a far more pressing matter is the issue of whether our statistics guru on the board of directors has calculated the probability of us being the victims of another egg blitz during our visit to Matlock on Saturday?
-
What time you getting there Jimmy?

Bout half 11

Still think we need another striker, maybe even one on loan until amis is fit

Will we be getting wet or is their cover?

No Densmore or lynch, but a defender will be coming in for Tuesday if not today

Nor even played three games and I assume we're already looking at a loan.

Maybe Jones as I don't think he signed for Salford and he'd settle straight in.
-
Might need international clearance for jones in a proper match, that can take weeks from the FAW, but he would make sense
-
Yes, they had Jones here and let him slip through the net. He would be perfect right now, I hope they are looking to get him back...but somehow I doubt it.
Densmore...WTF is going on there? Seems to spend more time in Church than he does doing what we pay him for. I know he has a contract, but this is taking the p*ss.
Lynch..not surprised he isn't available, that was a big knock he took on Tuesday going in with their keeper, very brave.
-
By the way..big shout out to Nicky Clee for turning out at Dave Johnson's funeral, says a lot about him.

Richman at RB? Bit odd.

I hope its Jones. Thought he was a class act..

Glad to see Taylor getting a start....

I've stopped telling people I support Alty when they ask, embarrassing

I will await the inquest, probably the fans fault again, over to you PP

Reminds me more and more of last season, after a positive pre season, no corner has been turned. We need a striker and a creative player ASAP. I see Nantwich signed a striker on loan who scored a fair few goals in this league last season, why aren't we in for players like this?
-
We played hundreds of pre season games yet we are awful defending corners and still don't look nowhere near a "team"
Their keeper was knackered - two decent shots at him all second half, the second being from Sheridan in injury time.
I'm no billy big bollocks but if we can't attract a STRIKER to this club in this league who can put the ball in the net - we might as well give it up.
10 games in is the marker for me.
Two years ago we took 3 points off Grimsby 😡
-
Matlock were a sh*te but organised determined side.
If PP thinks his style of football will win more games than we lose he is quite simply deluded.
I think rowley may have done it again and appointed a manager on the basis of questionable 'achievement'...
Other clubs have strikers..take corners well..wingers can beat a man and cross...id have jerome over jj anyday...
-
Was really optimisitic after the style of play in the pre-season games, yet some of the players who delivered those performances have gone. All I'm hoping for now is mid-table mediocrity. I won't be wasting my tenner on Tuesday now. Wake me up if they start scoring any goals, let alone winning some games.
-
Didn't go today but 2 home games now, no doubt we have to win both and win well. I hope Parky bites his tongue if interviewed tonight, he's not at Nantwich anymore this is simply not good enough for us.

I don't comment on games I don't attend, but it's probably about time we stopped "happy clapping/cocking-a-snook at those that have had the bollocks to have a go"! ourselves in to oblivion. We should have looked closer to home about the problems here 18 months ago, and still we descend further. We're supposed to be a football club, not a friends circle/social society. We can't hit the panic button on the manager, we need a compete restructure with him leading the charge.

perfect post . We have to stick with the manger . If we have learnt nothing else the continual churn of managers has done us no favours what so ever.
We need new leadership as a club overall . New ideas . Fresh impetus . We are stale

No goals in open play?
Phil Parkinson did say we would find it difficult, and he has got that right at least.

How long will it take EVERYONE to realise Rowley is the problem! He hasn't got a clue how to run a football. More interested in his precious Community Hall.

One point from nine - What the f**k is going on?

.Honestly feel like walking away at the moment and spending more time doing something more usefull with my Saturday afternoons
This is how I felt last season, and probably ended up with more productive DIY sessions on Saturday afternoons than many a previous year!!
Having watched Alty once (the Stafford game), it's looking as if Mrs Mc will be getting most of those jobs done sooner than expected ???
-
Just back from Matlock, huffed and puffed but never looked liked scoring. Very disappointed!
-
How did Taylor do? And Sheridan when he came on? Couldn't really tell from RR.

Passed him by. Didn't do anything of note. Moult on the other hand...
Sheridan tried getting it forward and had a decent shot tipped over in injury time

We had 2 fit outfield players in the bench. Wft is that all about
-
My thoughts on players today....
Thompson-Good shot stopper,dodgy on crosses,kicking woeful.
Richman-Not a right back.
Short-Absolutely skinned a couple of times by the right winger.
Hannigan-Completed 90 mins,well done Tom.
Harrison-Didn't seem to do much wrong but we conceded a free header from a corner again.
Moult-Played quite well but should be bossing games at this level.
Johnson-Full of running but failed to beat the full back all afternoon.
Taylor-A few tidy passes but the game largely passed him by.
Peers-Looked half decent up front but then bizarrely moved to the left?!
Poole-No lack of effort but doesn't seem to trust the majority of his team mates so does too much.
Hancock-Did he play? Totally anonymous.
Hulme-Quite lively when he came on but chipped a half decent chance miles over the bar.
Sheridan-Tried to grab the game by the scruff of the neck and did OK.
-
Offer James walshaw 700 pounds a week for two years immediately, that is all.
-
Plenty of possession today, but we never looked dangerous in the final third. Sheridan did enough when he came on to start on Tuesday and we should be better at the back with Jones signing. Matlock were average, quite effective at what they did , but what I did notice was the total commitment they displayed in the final minutes when defending one of our many corners. Men yelling and ordering each other around and dragging each other into position. Haven't seen that in an Alty team in years.
-
Powderpuff stuff - went with a mate who's last Alty game was away at Lincoln
We have a schoolfriend who's son was at right back for them today - had us in his pocket
Off out now and meeting them all - embarrassed to talk about this match - better focus on something else
-

Why would he leave a side sat 2nd in the table to join this mess?

For £700 a week for 2 years, James Walshaw WOULD join Alty. FFS Rowley, do something right man.
-
Just back from game.
We tried to play lots of short passing that ended with a hoofball to noone after 2 passes.
The amount of 10 yard passes that forced the recipient to stretch behind them or halt their momentum was laughable.
James Poole a cut above the rest.
Seemed a decent turnout from the Alty fans in terms of numbers. Dotted around the ground.
Very disheartened and frustrated this evening.

Matlock were a sh*te but organised determined side.
How is the league table looking after 3 games? Struggling to find the Big Time Charlie's from Altrincham, a massive club supposedly.
Oh look, second Bottom, welcome to the evo glue league, your just another nothing club from the 7th tier of Football in England.
Still you could always re introduce segregation at home games, that might make you feel important.
we've not been a big force in non leauge for sometime . I think most are fully aware of that fact

Mustn't be a lot to do in Stafford if you're on both our social media and forum on a Saturday night.
Don't worry, one day you'll find Someone x

Still new but got to say booing not the answer.

Don't know how you're struggling to find us,there's not that many teams in the league. I'd be more concerned about my own club tbh after losing 4-1 at home today.

For £700 a week for 2 years, James Walshaw WOULD join Alty. FFS Rowley, do something right man.
How would paying £700 a week for one player, be doing 'something right man'?. I doubt many/any of the squad are on that much. It'd certainly help team spirit if all of a sudden we bring in Walshaw on more money wouldn't it? There would be disharmony and/or people wanting parity.
If you were told, which effectively it would be, you're not up to the job so I'm going to bring somebody in on more money to sort it out. It'd be great to see it inspiring thers to try harder but we live in the real world here.
If he WOULD come for a two year contract on this money, sounds like he'd be coming for one major reason only.
-
The time to offer JW more money was after the play-off final when we were promoted to Conf National and our top goal scorer 'decides to leave' because of travel times
-
Yes we need a goal scorer but i cant help thinking that Amis getting injured on the eve of the season is the worst luck we have had. By all accounts again we have the posession of the game, its the final piece in the jigsaw that is missing. 3 games in it isnt good but not time to press the panic button just yet
-
Losing Amis was very bad luck. However, we can't afford to sit on our hands for six weeks and play without a proper striker in the squad. The boat will have sailed by the time he returns.

Footballers go anywhere for one major reason only, Nicolas Clee told us he had "alty in his blood" in October and asked to be released from his contract to sign a lucrative deal at BPA six months later. I'd have sat him in the reserves personally but we put being nice to everyone else ahead of winning We need to get with the programme. This is why we are being dry bummed down the leagues. Football has moved on, we haven't and won't whilst the club is run like a family corner shop
-
Are we seriously suggesting that Amis is going to be striker we are missing? I've seen nothing to suggest that he'll be anything more than a slight upgrade on those two donkeys, Hattersley and Hobby, we had last year. Key area remains midfield. Apart from JJ , we have no pace or energy in the middle. Moult is ready for the vets league and Taylor is a sitting midfielder. If I was Parky I'd be looking to acquire an energetic box to box midfielder in the mould of Stevie Connors.
Still completely baffled as to why Parky preferred Hancock to Jerome Wright. Hope he proves me wrong.
-
Steve Connors could probably still get in our team ahead of these jokers!
-
Some rather rushed match highlights are now up.
At the start, you can just hear Matlock running out to the "March of the Gladiators". More appropriate for us this season...

Just watched the highlights. We certainly created opportunities to score but not clinical enough.
Lets hope we can become more clinical soon rather than later.

I thought this lots of positives . We just need someone who can tuck these chances away. Goals will build confidence
Up the reds

This is a tougher league than you think. I split my time watching workington and Alty.
Workington have a decent squad this season proven at this level and will be close at the end. Alty on paper - yes the potential for success is there and rightly favourites. Biggest club at this level, awful to see what's happening.
Alty though looking a typical Parkinson side this season. Try to play football which is admirable but cant mix it when needed. Stafford are a decent yardstick of the physicality. This has to be the season to get promoted - for the first time no money bags team who can buy success. Very open. South Shields fc will buy success at this level next season when they are promoted.
The sides that are successful In the evostick are usually very physical in technique and stature. What worries me is Parkinson sides have no plan b. I watched his Nantwich side dominate possession in 2 games against workington last season and hardly have a shot on goal - lost 6 points. More of the same came from the bench.
I'm worried - the ploughed fields of January won't do this Alty side any favours in my opinion. Nantwich fell away badly despite decent investment in the squad. I'm hoping I am wrong and quality comes through in the end.
-
Indeed, the team play his way....and I was already worried about the lack of physicality/plan B.
-
Typical Parkinson side...........Try to play football which is admirable but cant mix it when needed................What worries me is Parkinson sides have no plan b......
Ignoring the fact that Sinnott didn't bolster the squad when we became depleted, aren't Parkinson's attributes as mentioned above the same as Sinnott's?
Oh, I forgot..........Parkinson hasn't replaced Amis, Wright........who needs them anyway, we'll manage. ::)
I know we're only three games in but I'm really struggling to keep a lid on the cynicism. Sorry.
