So, if you make it a pre season competition how many games do you factor in for it?

Do you include one in the hope that you'll get knocked out and can then play the games you wanted to? - Good plan but your buggered if you win a game and have to therefore cancel the visit of Liverpool!

Do you include 4, hoping you'll (a) Win it and (b) get to play against a decent side in it to help your pre-season preparation? - A bit more risky, worth it if the two conditions are met maybe but what happens if you lose the first game and then can't get anyone else to play you pre season because they're all already commited?

Just a thought

Make it a round Robin tournament of 2 groups. "Seed" teams to make the groups relatively equal and then have knockout stages.

Total entries for this season's competition 23 clubs (all NWCL or above).
Full list of entries - 1874 Northwich, Alsager, Alty, Cammell Laird, Cheadle, Chester, Congleton, Crewe, Hyde, Macc, Nantwich, Northwich Flixton, Vics, Runcorn Linnets, Runcorn Town, Stalybridge, Stockport, S/Sports, Tranmere, Vauxhall, Warrington, Winsford & Witton.
Cheshire FA unlikely to bar full member clubs from entering. It's too big for pre-season, I'm afraid. A 'Premier' competition involving Football League, Conference & Conf North clubs might work as a pre-season tournament (Alty, Chester, Crewe, Hyde, Macc, Bridge, County, Tranmere & Vauxhall) but would the Cheshire FA think laterally enough for that & would all nine clubs want it?

It wouldn't work pre season, the crowds are dismal, there is no financial benefit to it, not much prestige ( however enjoyable the nights we won it) and it is more of a nuisance than ever before with scheduling. Axe it.

I didnt realise there were that many teams to be honest. Even if we started it in pre-season it would be better. The games would almost certainly be played and then carry on with the CSC after getting a sizeable chunk of the league fixtures out of the way in August/September/October.

The crowds could hardly be more dismal than they already are for this competition.
