League thrown into chaos??
« on: April 26, 2012, 12:07:21 PM »

This terrible weather is giving the league major concerns over Saturdays fixtures, which MUST be played on Saturday, droylsden v vauxhall who are right in the relegation shake up is already in doubt. The main headache will be of for example Alty v Gainsborough or another game involving playoff chasers gets postponed, the playoffs start on weds night, and using our game as purely an example, Gainsborough can't come here on Monday knowing what they need and then play on weds night in a playoff, interesting few days ahead!!

Surely the playoffs could be rescheduled for a later date if push came to shove?

That could depend on when players contracts/insurance runs out, wether club staff are available at a later date, the perils of non league football, and the stupidity of having the playoffs so soon after the last game.

I did start to wonder if some games would be off, but hadn't even considered the insurances/contracts issue, what a mess!

It is quite bad- both the pitches I reffed on this weekend had standing water (but we still managed to play)
Read an article that Bacup had a large fixture backlog and had to play 6 fixtures in 7 days (the 7th day being next monday, which I'm told clashes with a small local derby)

How many games do the play-off potential clubs playing at HOME this weekend have left?  Two I reckon - the final league game and the home leg.  Sorry if I am way-off the mark here, I lost interest in the format when we were clearly not going to make it!  What I am saying is tearing the pitch up on Saturday isn't necessarily the problem it normally is.

COME ON ALTY

From united "Credit must go to the groundstaff for ensuring the game went ahead and just under 300 fans braved the elements to see the latest victory for Warren Joyce's side, that extends an unbeaten home run at league level."

So we *should* be ok...
