Title: Greg Young & Chris Senior
Post by: RocketDan on April 24, 2012, 07:42:38 PM
What are the chances of bringing the two back home to Moss Lane?

we would have won the league if we had those two turn up in August instead of Paul Jones and Michael Twiss.

Absolutely no chance of getting Young, I wouldn't have thought. He's a regular for Alfreton in the Conference, isn't he?

Dunno about Senior. Best to wait and see what happens with Reeves, I'd have thought. But surely finding a couple of competent defenders is the priority?

They both may have had enough of the merry go round and want to come home to a club they know and where they'll be first choice.  It's not always the money/fame.

28 starts from 45 to date.......first choice earlier in the season, which to be perfectly fair was when they were getting beat, albeit by small margins. He is contracted next season (unless things change).
Would be a great addition, but cannot help thinking a fresh start is needed at the back - just like last season - but hopefully we won't be playing 20 different players at centre back next season.

Broomes did very well against Fax, but he already looks like he is a potential injury liability

When Greg Young came back to us in early 2011, he was pretty average to be honest.

Lets move on heh

After the season we've just had, I would love to recruit an average defender.
I'd take them both back in a heartbeat.

To be fair to him I heard that he played injured for a lot of that spell.

Both would vastly improve the squad whether they have been here before or not.

Would explain some of his displays Ecky, his pre York stint at this club was at a different level

We should have no hesitation in welcoming both back. And Id even be happy to see dale Johnson back. The closer we could get to that side that could have got a conference playoff place two years a go, but for injuries, the better.Theyd be outstanding in the BSN, 3 years on it not..,

Don't you think Dale has had his time here, certainly had the chance to prove himself here.  Seem to recall Graham Westley when in charge of Stevenage giving Dale a glowing report.  When he could be arsed, he was useful

Dale has the talent to play in the Football League

Sadly, all too often, he has the attitude to play in the Sunday League

Didnt think much of Young on his last return, while were on the subject of old players making returns , why are we ? , lets stop living in the past and start looking forward to the future .

So you wouldn't have Chris Senior in your side just because he has played for us before?

As Ecky has said, Young was carrying an injury, but you also have to remember he came to us after not playing for a while and being expected to slot straight in in an unfamiliar (poor) defence and perform immediately.

I'd have him back in an instant.

Greg and Chris would be tremendous assets to this club in next season's promotion push. FACT ! ! !

What's Nathan Comley-Excell doing these days?

and if we want Chris Senior we'd have to find him first. Where is he these days?

Greg Young, Chris Senior and Peter Doran.

Is Chris Senior still on contract at Darlington though?

I was a fan of Dale when he was with us. But he's had his chance(s) and never quite lived up to his potential. I'd be disappointed if we went back for him.

I propose we offer Danny Higginbotham a player/coach role.

To be fair she has been around plenty of clubs though = oops sorry.

Sometimes there's a case that a man is suited to just one club (ie could you imagine Gerrard being anywhere other than Liverpool). This could be the case with Senior. Never really got the chances/luck at previous clubs before he signed for us, and here he just fitted in perfectly, as a player and as a club man. Since then, for one reason or another he hasn't had the chances/luck again at Darlo,Alfreton and Guiseley. I'm not for bringing back ex players, but Senior is certainly an exception to the rule. Young we know is a quality BSP defender, so if injury free, think how good he would be in this league.

I agree with the sentiments with Dale. No question he is a talented footballer, but you don't know which Dale you will get. The hard working, skillful Dale we saw at Droylsden New Years Day, or the lazy overweight Dale we saw at Moss Lane Boxing Day.

If we bring back Youngy, can we afford to have both him & Broomesy? Both in their mid 70s!

next season I want to see Earl Davies and Greg Young bossing our back four.

We aren't going to score as many goals next season, so our priority should be to concede less.

Not quite sure I get the fascination with Earl Davies.

Last time I saw him he was getting terrorised by Dale.
